FIRST Team 3396

FIRST Team 3396 The purpose of Saint Theresa of Lisieux Robotics is to build a robot for the FIRST Robotics competition. In January, we are given the robot design template.

Up until January, we must get the necessary funding, organize and educate our team to prepare for the competition. We have exactly six weeks to complete the robot after which we lock up what we’ve built. In mid-March to April, we take out our robot for competitions like the Waterloo Regional FIRST Robotics Championship. There we will control the robot to execute the tasks as mandated by the design

document. The goal of the project is to ultimately fulfill as many of the tasks that the competition requires to the greatest efficiency and effectiveness. The project will immerse a number of different students in a number of different ways. Much of our group is composed of students who are not involved in other parts of the school community. Kids who wouldn’t necessarily join other clubs now get to do so with common interests allowing them to make great friendships which can last throughout high school. Also, many academic students are usually unable to get hands-on experience with what they are learning in the classroom. The Robotics Club is a fantastic way to apply the theories and concepts you learned in class in exciting practical solutions. Building the robot will involve an in-depth knowledge of physics, mathematics, computer science, electronics and construction. In our group, we have a diverse group of students with a number of assets and skills who all get to contribute to the project in their own unique way.
