In the depths of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, our partner Zoom came flying in like a superhero to save the day. Working from home was made easier with Zoom’s cloud based web conferencing platform which allowed for audio and/or video conferencing from home. Their free plan, which allows up to 100 participants within a 40-minute time frame, gave family and friends a way to stay connected during uncertain, isolating times. Even conferences and concerts could be held on Zoom when users subscribed to a paid plan which gave access to 1,000 participants and unlimited minutes.

There is no doubt Zoom’s secure, reliable video communication software will continue to save the day when it comes to your meetings, chats, phone calls, webinars, and online events.

Will you be continuing to work from home this fall? Here's a refresher on 5 essentials to make sure your work routine is productive.

We all get it. Working from home is the new normal. But it can be challenging to set up a productive work routine from the “comfort” of home. Your laptop is on the dining room table. Your kids are bouncing off the walls. The dog starts barking in the background during your client calls. Distract...

Telanet Telecom Help: POTS lines vs. SIP trunks

POTS stands for Plain Old Telephone Service, and they are the hard, business phone lines. These lines only make and receive calls which are transmitted through the traditional phone company network also known as the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

SIP is an acronym for Session Initiation Protocol. SIP trunks are dial calls through the internet also known as VoIP meaning Voice over IP. Although SIP trunk calls may use the PSTN, the call always begins through the internet or data network.

One of the main difference between the two telecoms - analogue POTS lines may be costing you more than you really need. Because of this, more and more businesses are transferring to SIP trunks for their voice call needs.

Not sure if you are getting overcharged for a hard phone line? Consult with Telanet about your telecommunications and we can help you make a call on POTS lines vs SIP trunks.

How can we keep you safe on the golf course or the ski hill?

Golf courses and ski resorts cover similar large areas and it can be difficult for emergency teams to respond to when situations arise. With 911inform, emergency response teams can be provided with visual tools to quickly and effectively identify the location of the emergency caller and respond accordingly.

How does Ray Baum's Act help first responders?

There are 2 pieces of legislation in the USA that have influenced the implementation of 911inform; Kari’s Law and Ray Baum’s Act.

Kari's Law allows you to dial 911 without having to dial "9" or "0" first to get an outside line.

Once you’ve been able to make the call, the next important piece is for the first responders to know where you are. This is where Ray Baum’s Act comes in.

The FCC requires telephone systems to provide 911 informants with your exact location so they can find you easier. 911inform provides first responders with detailed maps and access to building systems to make it easier for them to get to you.

911inform is an add-on to your existing phone system to make your workplace compliant with both these regulations. For more information, give us a call or visit

911inform is not just for office buildings and schools!

Amusement parks have to manage the safety of thousands of customers on a day-to-day basis. When they have to cover a large area, security and medical teams can only cover so much ground. With 911inform, the second someone dials 911 within the grounds, all required emergency teams are notified and sent the exact location of the emergency caller, ensuring they can get the help and assistance they need.

Do you know why Kari's Law matters in an emergency?

There are 2 pieces of legislation in the USA that have influenced the implementation of 911inform; Kari’s Law and Ray Baum’s Act.

The first piece, Kari’s Law, deals with the ability to call 911 easily, with no barriers:

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has mandated that anyone in the U.S be able to dial 9-1-1 directly, without any other digits, to reach help. 911inform can make this possible while also notifying a designated person, such as the building’s front desk or security kiosk, that a 911 call is taking place. This makes it easier and more accessible to get help fast!

911inform is an add-on to your existing phone system to make your workplace compliant with both these regulations. For more information, give us a call or visit
