Should virtual interviews allow candidates to re-record their answers?
In a traditional face-to-face interview, candidates typically do not get a second chance to answer a question. Once the answer is given, the conversation moves on.
However, virtual interviews create new possibilities.
For non-technical questions, particularly those focused on communication, leadership, collaboration, and other soft skills, allowing a single retake may help candidates overcome initial nervousness and present a more accurate reflection of their abilities. It can reduce the impact of interview anxiety while still preserving the authenticity of the assessment.
On the other hand, too many retakes may shift the evaluation away from spontaneous communication and toward rehearsed responses.
In YouTestMe Virtual Interview, recruiters can decide whether candidates are allowed to re-record answers, and if so, how many attempts are permitted for each question.
