Actor Bruce Willis has frontotemporal dementia, his family has announced.
In a statement on social media, they said it was a "relief to finally have a clear diagnosis".
The 67-year-old was diagnosed with aphasia - which causes difficulties with speech - in spring last year, but this has progressed and he has been given a more specific diagnosis, the family said.
They expressed their "deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love".
The family went on to say frontotemporal dementia is the most common form of dementia in people under 60.

As in the case of Bruce Willis, many rare diseases can happen during a lifetime, either with us or our support network. That's why we must always be prepared and informed about this subject. And especially to have empathy to be the support of those we love.

In Canada, it is important to oppose ableism against people with disabilities. We can take a stand against ableism by recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusion, understanding the rights of people with disabilities, and taking action to create a more inclusive environment.

First, we must recognize the importance of diversity and inclusion. People with disabilities often face discrimination and exclusion in society, and we must strive to create an environment where everyone is accepted and included. This means understanding the needs of people with disabilities and developing programs and policies that are accessible and inclusive.

Second, we must understand the rights of people with disabilities. We must ensure they have access to the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. This includes access to education, healthcare, social services, and the right to vote and participate in the political process.

Finally, we must take action to create a more inclusive environment. This includes advocating for the rights of people with disabilities, supporting local and national disability organizations, and raising awareness about the issues faced by people with disabilities. We must also ensure that laws and policies are in place to protect and promote the rights of people with disabilities.

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is held on 3 December each year.
IDPwD is a United Nations (UN) observed day celebrated internationally. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions.
Each year the UN announces a theme for IDPwD. The theme provides a focus for how society can strive for inclusivity through removing barriers for people with disability. This has been occurring since 1992 when the General Assembly announced 3 December as the International Day of Disabled Persons.
The theme for IDPwD 2022 is ‘Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world’.

Disabilities are diverse.
The disability itself is a widely diverse set of experiences, and disabled people’s views on disability issues fall into several very different patterns.
The specific types of disabilities we have powerfully shape how we understand and respond to disability, how we view our place in society, and how we relate to our fellow disabled people. While we all share much in common, the real and perceived differences in perspective and experience can’t be wished away.
And through it all, in spite of all divisions, there is still a strong pull towards greater unity, and a lot of ground for common understanding.

Do you know the types of disabilities?
They can be classified in:

Intellectual Disability
Physical Disability
Psychiatric Disability
Sensory Disability

Oxford learner's dictionary has defined disability as a physical or mental condition that limits an individual's movements, senses, and activities.' Their natural inabilities do not hold back people with disabilities from chasing their dreams or living their best lives as they do today.
'Disability is not inability.'
