Friends, we watched a hockey game last week and couldn't stop thinking about it.

The Winnipeg Jets had lost 7 games in a row. They could barely score. Toronto should've crushed them.

Instead? Winnipeg jumped to a 4-1 lead. Toronto looked lost.

What happened next is pure strategic brilliance—and it has nothing to do with hockey and everything to do with how we compete in business, in careers, in life.

The Leafs coach told his team: stop attacking. Defend. Confuse them.

They won 6-5.

Opher Brayer wrote the whole breakdown—what this means for leaders, for companies like Microsoft and Google, and for anyone who's ever been behind and needed to find a way back.

Would love to hear what you think. 🏒

"The wound is the place where the Light enters you."- Rumi

Our Chief Scientist Opher Brayer's father taught him to ask "Is this helpful?" three times before acting. Not as a technique - but as a way to reach the truth underneath the surface answer.

In his latest post, Opher writes about why organizations struggle with AI adoption. Spoiler: it's not the technology. It's our willingness to name what everyone already knows but nobody says out loud.

Tomorrow he's keynoting at AICO Toronto 2025 at Microsoft Canada HQ.

My father taught me to ask “Is this helpful?” three times before acting. Seemed weird when I was a kid. Felt like overkill. Why ask the same question three times? Then I spent 30 years as a performance coach and realized: he wasn’t teaching me a decision-making technique. He was teaching me ho...

There's a version of you that knows exactly what to do next. The one who sees patterns others miss. The one who shows up at 6am or during a walk - when you stop trying to figure it out.

Our Chief Scientist Opher Brayer wrote about why real human-AI collaboration isn't about better tools. It's about trusting what you already see.

He'll be sharing more at AICO Toronto 2025 on November 28 at Microsoft Canada HQ.

See you there!

here’s a version of you that Googles “AI productivity hacks” at 11pm. That bookmarks articles you’ll never read. That says “interesting” in meetings while mentally composing a grocery list. And then there’s the other you. The one who sees the pattern everyone else is missing. The one w...

The constraints aren't out there. They're in how we've learned to see.

At Impro.AI, our methodologist Opher Brayer has spent decades watching this pattern: breakthrough doesn't come from solving the problem you think you have. It comes from discovering you've been solving the wrong problem entirely.

Most leadership teams ask: "How do we implement AI to improve efficiency?"

But what if that question itself is too small?

You've experienced this every time you reread a book and wondered how you missed everything the first time. The words didn't change. Your framework for seeing them did.

The ancient Greeks called this the hermeneutic circle. Einstein put it plainly: "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them."

This applies directly to how organizations think about AI.

The performance coaching world believes it's selling advice. It's actually selling frameworks for interpretation.

The AI industry believes it's selling automation. It's actually redesigning what "thinking" means in organizational contexts.

Your competitors will adopt the same AI tools. The advantage? Learning to see what those inherited frameworks prevent everyone else from recognizing.

Opher unpacks this in our latest blog post: "Beyond the Obvious: Why Human-AI Collaboration Isn't What You Think It Is"

For leaders exhausted by superficial AI tactics who suspect the real challenges—and opportunities—run much deeper.

Abstract The conventional model of human-AI collaboration—humans provide intuition and creativity while AI delivers speed and scale—fundamentally misunderstands what’s possible and leaves significant competitive advantage on the table. This framework trap prevents executive teams from seeing t...
