If you are looking for information, support and transparency before or during your time spent abroad working, you have come to right place! I started Karibu this year to help migrant workers with the things they identified as being most important to them: transparency in contract negotiation and signing, incident reporting, healthcare and remittances. While many trips to work abroad happen withou
t incident, it is important that you feel secure, safe and supported when travelling abroad for work. This is a discussion forum for migrant workers travelling abroad where you can find answers to your questions and l challenges, where I will also be posting news and updates about the new Karibu platform. This group is a safe place for you to share your questions and thoughts about matters that are important to you. Please introduce yourself, state where you’re from and tell us what you would like to discuss or pose a question about. It can be a community question, a personal question, a statement or a view that you share. Opinions are welcome to be shared and whether you agree or not, you have a right to state your view. Feel free to post interesting content that is relevant to your well-being as a worker or employer. A brief introduction. My name is Terry Knight and I am a migration professional with a background in communication and management. I am the founder of Karibu and have several years experience working abroad in Ethiopia, Cambodia and Greece. If you have questions for me and not for the community, or if you are seeking private advice, please e-mail me directly, [email protected]. I will answer the questions and statements with the most likes within the group. If there is something that you don’t understand, please leave a “?” in the comment section. This platform is for educational and discussion. It is intended for workers interested or currently working in Canada, but we welcome conversations from different parts of the world.
