As we close out Mental Health Awareness Month this May, weโre proud to spotlight a story that reminds us how meaningful care can come in many forms. ๐พ๐
One of our colleagues, Mary Ann, has spent the past decade volunteering with her therapy dog, ๐
๐ข๐ง๐ง, through the St John Ambulance Dog Therapy program. Since he was just two years old (heโs now 12!), Finn has completed over ๐๐๐ ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ across our community, bringing comfort, connection, and joy to those who need it most โ one paw at a time!
From seniorsโ residences and hospitals to schools, libraries, hospice homes, and organizations supporting families living with cancer, Mary Ann and Finn have made a remarkable impact. Whether itโs children reading to Finn to build confidence, seniors eagerly awaiting his weekly visits, or individuals experiencing profound moments of connection, his presence makes a difference.
Some of the moments that stay with Mary Ann includes:
โข A woman who is both deaf and blind lighting up with joy as she felt Finnโs gentle presence
โข A child with severe physical disabilities comforted by Finn resting his head softly on their forehead
โข A senior who greets Finn each week with a song and calls him โsuch a nice personโ
Beyond these heartfelt moments, therapy dogs like Finn are known to help ๐ซ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐ฑ๐ข๐๐ญ๐ฒ, ๐๐๐ฌ๐ ๐ฅ๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ, ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ญ๐ ๐ก๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ , ๐๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐๐ฌ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, which are especially important when we think about mental health and well-being.
At Acronym Solutions, weโre incredibly proud to have team members like Mary Ann who give so generously outside of work and make a meaningful impact in our communities. And, of course, weโre grateful for Finnโan Australian Labradoodle truly living out what he was meant to do.
