Across Cape Breton, children are returning to school this week. As school doors open, traffic becomes a little heavier on our streets. People are back from holidays, school buses and public transit are on regular routes, and more people are walking, cycling or driving to school.
Here are a few basic safety tips to help with the transition and to share the roads safely:
- Observe school zone speeds. Drive slowly as a general precaution.
- Obey the crossing guard.
- Watch for darting children.
- Never pass a school bus when the signal lights are flashing.
The staff at Seaside Communications hopes that everyone has a safe and happy school year!
