I didn’t have much time today to dedicate to our planet Earth 🌎 . However, I do try my best to teach my kids about the small things we can do to reduce our impact so that when they are older they can take it one step further. Sometimes thinking about the bigger picture can be defeating and overwhelming so I believe if you make small changes in your habits the cumulative effects can make a difference.

Yup! That’s teen-aged me. How embarrassing. While in search of a photo of me on a computer when I was young to prove how much of a computer nerd 🤓 I was, my dad found this gem. I was hoping for one where I was still adorable and not in my awkward teen years but this was all he could find.

From the age of wee a 4 year old, back in the late-80s, I always had a computer in front of me. My dad ran a computer lab and was able to bring one home every Summer. I would create elaborate pixel by pixel illustrations zoomed in on Paint, and would cry when my creations would print out teeny tiny.

This was my first lesson in image resolution not knowing that it would be the hardest concept I would ever try to teach.

I am working on getting some new headshots but for now, this one will have to do. Read my story, see some of my latest projects and view my skillset / tools on my website.

The VIMFF 2024 was the biggest yet! With 78 films, 23 in-person shows in 5 venues across Vancouver, 11 workshops, 10 online shows including a Mountain Market and an Arc’teryx happy hour.

The online program continues to stream until March 24th and you have until March 10 to get your online film pass or select a show that features films from your favourite genre.

This year I completely rebuilt the site from scratch, rebuilding the navigation structure in a mega menu format and working to refined meta fields and page/post templates to streamline the site population process.

My favourite integration this year was a filtering system for shows, films and tickets so that the user could easily find what films / shows / venues that were interested in attending.

What you don’t see on the front end, is the back end setup. This is where stats and data are collected so that we can make adjustments to future festivals to suite our audience. Of course it still takes time to collect and analyze this data so we have a ticketing manager who is an analytics guru. We use this data in addition to survey feedback to make positive adjustments for future festivals.

I work closely with another very talented designer who selects the images, creates the graphics, creates the colour palette, etc, to make the site as aesthetically pleasing as it is functional for the user.

There are many other team members who work long days putting this festival together and they all have their 💩 together to make everything as streamlined as possible.

Hope you enjoyed an in-person show it and if you weren’t able to attend an event and still want to get in on the action, you still have 3 days to get the online film pass.

Wow! Time flies. I rebranded and developed the website in 2019, before covid, and looking back at it today, I’m still quite stoked on how it turned out.

Fisher Coating is a pre-stain manufacturing facility in Squamish, BC and specializes in transparent coatings on both wood and fibre cement.

After establishing a main brand and 4 product sub-brands, we worked together to create a tri-fold folder to showcase their TrueGrain line samples for their distributors. We designed product brochures and developed a website showcasing their products and project galleries. You can find Fisher Coating product throughout the Sea to Sky and beyond.

Did you know at one point I wanted to become a biomedical illustrator? I have a science degree from UBC and I loved sketching the xylem and phloem patterns from the plant stem cross-sections in my lab notebooks 🤓. Although I technically don’t use my degree, whenever I get a chance to incorporate medical illustration into my branding I leap a the chance, and this style seemed perfect for .

It’s been launched for over a month now and I am just getting the chance to highlight this amazing client and epic photographer, Pascale Gadbois of . We worked together to give her previously established brand an extension and colour palette update. Then we renovated her existing website, updating the galleries with her current work, transferring it onto a faster server, and rebuilding it with the backend Wordpress builder which she is now well versed in. Blog away Pascale! And go check out her latest work.

I love what I call “re-skinning” websites that I have already developed in the past, giving the site a refresh and refining the kinks the second time around. As technology advances things in the web world change quickly and new plugins and tools are developed. It’s difficult and takes a lot of time to learn new tools, but if you don’t, you risk not finding ones that are better to advance your skills and what you offer. I first developed the Rope Runner website at the beginning of 2018. It was new and we had to start from scratch, writing content, how to best present the products, which booking system to use. Over 4 years, a lot has been changed and when Squamish Axe Throwing] was added as an additional attraction to the park, I proposed a refresh of the site using my favorite page builder .
I structured the site so that if duplicated copy or pricing is mentioned twice, when edited, the copy would update everywhere using templates and global elements. Another feature I have always like to add to a website when possible is a bit of interactivity, so I designed and programmed an “Interactive Park” where you can hover over an element illustrated in the four levels of the park and see a photo of a person attempting that feature. Squamish Axe Throwing]

is almost coming to an end! For a simple event websites with external ticketing using platforms like , is an easy solution to setup an get the client to self-populate. I used the Summary element to divide the events into separate pages (workshops, performers and locations). I setup a tagging and category system for them and an event page template and voila! Add custom brand fonts and a bit of custom css and it looks like a custom built website.
