Power Outage Advanced Notice!!

This Sunday, April 12, 2026: Hydro One is showing a scheduled power outage for THIS SUNDAY, 8am to 2pm. Affected area covers from Highway 29 all the way to East of Shanly.

Affected areas include: Bethel, Stones Corners, Algonquin, Roebuck, Charleville, Domville, Spencerville, Ventnor, Hyndman, and Shanly.

We will be running generators at as many towers as we can to minimize outages for customers who run generators at home, but we expect there to be service outages with a hydro outage this widespread.

Note: Joe's SpencerCity Bar and Grill in Spencerville has a whole building backup generator, they will be open to serve food, and have bathrooms available so if you wake up without power, you can get breakfast/lunch nearby.

Tomorrow, Thursday April 9th, we will be adding additional backup batteries to the Shanly tower and testing our UPS to ensure we do not have a 6 hour outage on Sunday. There will be a brief outage Thursday as we unplug equipment - possibly as long as 30 minutes if we need to replace something - this will affect Shanly, Ventnor, Hyndman, South Mountain, Iroquois, and Brouseville. We will work hard to keep it as quick as possible.

Turns out Hydro was scheming more than one outage today. Power appears to be out from Inkerman all the way to Iroquois. Their eta for completion is 12:30pm

Sunday Dec 14, 2025: After this morning's 4am power outage due to replacing a hydro pole on County Rd 21, we now have a fibre outage affecting Ventnor, Hyndman, South Mountain, and Iroquois towers. Technicians from the fibre provider have been dispatched to replace the fibre converter.

Service will be restored today!!

6:30pm Oct 20 - Major power outage affecting multiple towers. People from Mallorytown to South Mountain are at home in the dark, missing the Jay's game 😞

Eta for power to be restored is 9:15pm but that will likely change. Stay tuned.

Sunday, October 5th, 2025 - A major fibre outage late last night in the Williamsburg, UpperCanada, Brinston area has caused an interruption in service. Techs were dispatched in the wee hours, eta to restore is currently 11am.

It must have been some cold late last night!! We appear to have a couple towers with frozen battery backups, as they have lost all power and died in the night. A service team has been dispatched with hot cocoa and mittens this morning to get things up and running as quickly as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully, it won't take long.

Somebody just dug up a hydro line with a giant excavator. Give us 30-60 minutes to MacGyver things here and Roebuck, Stones Corners, and Bethel will be rocking Netflix again.
