We’re proud to see Osman Anwar, Viamo’s Country Director in Pakistan, joining the Behavioural Insights for Policy (BiP) Pakistan 2026 International Workshop as an invited speaker.

Osman will contribute to discussions on mainstreaming behavioural insights in Pakistan’s policy landscape, drawing on Viamo’s experience at the intersection of behaviour change, digital inclusion, and evidence-based programming.

We look forward to seeing these conversations translate into new ideas and stronger approaches to public policy.

It’s a question facing nonprofits, funders, and social impact organisations across Africa.

In its new report, Pursuing the Promise of AI: A Guide for African Nonprofits to Advance Their Missions, The Bridgespan Group explores the opportunities and practical challenges of adopting AI to strengthen nonprofit missions.

We’re pleased to see Sulakshana Gupta Lea-Howarth, Viamo’s VP of Philanthropy Partnerships, featured in the report, sharing perspectives on two critical challenges: making AI available in local languages and finding sustainable ways to finance AI services as they scale.

As AI becomes more accessible, the challenge is no longer simply what the technology can do. It’s how we make it useful, affordable, and accessible to the people who stand to benefit from it.

In Rwanda, Ask Viamo Anything (AVA), powered by Gemini, lets people talk to AI in their own language through a simple phone call — even on the most basic phones.
By combining Gemini’s AI capabilities, MTN Rwanda network, and Viamo’s voice and local-language technology, AVA brings AI to people through the phones and network they already use.

The idea is simple: the benefits of AI shouldn’t depend on your language, device or connectivity.

AI distribution doesn’t have to follow internet distribution.

In Rwanda, Ask Viamo Anything (AVA), powered by Gemini, is showing what another model can look like: bringing AI to people through the phones and mobile networks they already use.

With a simple phone call on MTN Rwanda , people can talk to AI in their own language, even using the most basic phone. In Rwanda, the service is available to MTN customers by dialling 845.

For Viamo, the idea is bigger than any one market. As AI becomes more capable, we need to expand not only what it can do, but who can access its benefits and how.

Voice gives us another way.
