Apparently, Canada did not stumble into its position as a world leader in AI. There was foresight and investment made long before AI became the word on everyone's lips. That early conviction is why Canada is where it is today, and today the Government of Canada and CIFAR announced a $24M investment in top AI talent to keep that momentum going.

But the most grounding thread across today's sessions was this: AI is a tool to augment our thinking, not replace the process, and, as Peter Bishop mentioned, "We combine our expertise with emerging technology to amplify humanity, not replace it."

Three days of conversations that have given us a lot to build on. Thank you to the entire Upper Bound AI team, every speaker, and everyone in that room for making these conversations worth having.

How far can AI actually go?

That was the question sitting underneath Day 2 at Upper Bound AI Conference.

The answer to that is, it depends entirely on how it is built, how it is tested, and whether the people deploying it are asking the right questions before they ship.

Traditional software testing breaks when applied to AI agents. Intentionality is not optional, and accountability does not disappear just because a model made the decision.
