Outdoor workers in Saskatchewan face 2.5 to 3.5 times higher risk of skin cancer than indoor workers, and the province has the second highest rate of workplace UV radiation exposure per capita in Canada.

Sun Smart Saskatchewan is a coalition of health and cancer prevention partners working to change that.

We really enjoyed working with Marion Waysome-McIntyre at and saskcancer to bring their workplace sun safety toolkit to life through animated videos, a four-poster set for break rooms and job sites, and a number of LMS slide decks for employer and employee training. The resources are free, practical, and built for the people and employers who need them most.

If you work outdoors or manage people who do, it’s worth checking out: sunsmartsk.ca

We couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off Pride Month. 🏳️‍🌈

The team had so much fun collaborating with on this 2026 merch collection. The brief connected Fierté’s national funding and community-building work to something visual and wearable. The result is a collection we’re really proud of and that we think people are going to love wearing.

Go grab something at fiertecanadapride.org and have a really good excuse to be loud and joyful this month. 🌈

Arcana now offers in-house inclusive English to French translation services. 💬

Whether we're translating for you or reviewing your translations, our inclusive French services go beyond converting English into French. We think deeply about how language carries culture, identity, trust, and meaning.

For us that means considering things like Quebec French vs. Acadian French, regional dialects and micro-expressions, plain language and accessibility, identity-affirming terminology and grammatical structure, and how tone, emotion, and political context shift across audiences.

Good bilingual work is not about creating a French "version" of something, rather it's about ensuring Francophone communities receive the same intentionality and care as English-speaking audiences.

In practice, this looks like two distinct but connected services:

- Inclusive translation and/or language review: We translate English content into French following inclusive standards, or review existing translations against inclusive language, gender-affirming, and plain-language standards

- Bilingual project integration: We strategize on layouts, templates, and content structures during the design and prototyping stages to ensure they can properly support French content from the beginning, and work closely with development teams to ensure French content is structured and implemented properly across digital platforms like WPML.

Working on bilingual content? We'd love to help you get it right from the start.

As part of our 1% for the Planet commitment, each year we offer a combination monetary and in-kind collaboration (valued at up to $5,000) to an environmental organization. That could look like a brand refresh, a website update, a campaign, a creative tool, a communications strategy, or something else entirely. We're open to what's most useful.

To be eligible, your organization needs to be registered with as an environmental partner, and we'll ask you to speak to the potential impact of the project, including what it could mean for your organization, the communities you work with, and the ecosystems you're working to protect. We're looking for projects where thoughtful design and storytelling can genuinely move the needle. Please email [email protected] to get in touch if this sounds like a good fit for you.

If you're an org not yet registered with 1% for the Planet but think you might be a fit, we're happy to refer you and help point you in the right direction.

Know an organization that should apply? Tag them below or send us a DM. We want to build partnerships that make a real difference for the places we all depend on. 🌍

Last week our team took the afternoon to get together in person and talk seriously about AI.

We worked through together what we believe, what kinds of challenges we’re navigating, and where we want to draw lines in a landscape and future that keeps shifting. This was both necessary and well overdue, so a big thanks to everyone on the team who made it happen.

Some of what we worked through was quite straightforward: We’re human-first, with human ideas, human strategy, and human creative. That part was easy to label, as we’ve always been a studio where people and the planet are at the heart of everything we do. Passing off those elements to AI would feel like a betrayal to our core values.

But a lot of the questions we’re sitting with are really tricky. How do we remain accessible to underresourced clients if holding the line on AI makes us less competitive? How do we acknowledge the benefits AI offers some organizations while staying honest about the damage this technology is doing and has the potential to do to the environment, to jobs, to health, to the people it’s leaving behind and the billionaires it’s lifting up? How do we protect our process, our creative judgment, our humanness, as clients arrive with their own relationships to these tools and their own expectations? How do we hold our boundaries gently, and stay in the driver’s seat of how we operate?

While there are a lot of questions remaining unanswered, we left our retreat with some clarity and a shared sense of next steps, including how we integrate our position into our internal-use policy, our contracts, and how we navigate client requests around AI in our process and project outputs.

We topped the afternoon off with good food, ice cream, a walk along the Meewasin in the sun, and a couple of plays from 25th Street Theatre’s Behind Closed Doors series. It was a really wonderful afternoon all around.

Grateful for this team and the dedication that exists to do these big things well! 💕

We’re heading into a busy year ahead and looking to develop relationships with a senior designer interested in leading work across branding, web design, and everything in between.

This collaboration would begin on a contract or fractional basis, with a modest and flexible starting scope. Our hope is to grow this into a longer-term working relationship over time, with increasing continuity as fit and capacity align.

You’ll be supporting meaningful projects with researchers, community organizations, and mission-driven teams. We’re looking for someone who brings not only strong craft and good judgement, but also experience working in social impact contexts, including a solid understanding of community-centred work, equity-informed practice, and the responsibility that comes with designing for complexity.

This work is brand-led and strategic. Deep experience in the Adobe Creative Suite is essential; web design experience, particularly in Figma, is a real asset.

We’re headquartered in Saskatchewan and would love to connect with someone local, but we’re a fully remote team and welcome collaborators from across the country.

If this resonates, we’d love a human hello—no formal application needed. Send a short note to [email protected] introducing yourself, a link to your portfolio or a few relevant projects, and a sentence or two about what kind of work you’re hoping to do more of this year. To help us review responses thoughtfully, we won’t be able to consider inquiries sent via DMs. At this time, we’re looking to connect with designers based in Canada.

And if someone you trust comes to mind, please feel free to pass this along. We care deeply about the work and about how we work together, and we’re excited to build capacity in a way that’s well-aligned.
