I’m Still in Shock.

The AjoSquad story can never be told without mentioning Mariam.

She was there before the world knew us.

She was there before we launched in 2024, and she stayed with us after the launch.

At a time when some people turned us down simply because they didn’t want to be associated with “Ajo,” Mariam saw something different.

From our very first meeting, she told me:

“I believe so much in you. I have a gut feeling that you’re genuine and true, so I will work with you.”

And she did.

She gave us far more of her time than we paid for. When I mentioned it, she would tell me it was her way of supporting me because she believed in what we were building.

Very few people do that.

Mariam was rare.

She showed up for our webinars. She called to check how things were going. She joined our Instagram Lives. She supported us, encouraged us and constantly looked for ways to make sure AjoSquad was seen.

When she held her program in Toronto, of course AjoSquad was there.

And from that event, even more doors of opportunity opened for us.

That was Mariam.

A force to be reckoned with.

Someone who didn't just tell you she believed in you—she put her time, energy, relationships and reputation behind that belief.

My last communication with her was in August.

Just August.

And now I'm struggling to accept that she's gone.

Mariam, why did you choose to carry so much of our weight on your shoulders?

There are people who enter your journey when everything is already working.

And then there are those rare people who stand beside you before anyone is watching.

You were one of those people for us.
