Security Awareness

There is no such thing as a small business when it comes to IT security. In fact, more than half of reported security breaches have been targeted at small businesses with one or more computers.It is therefore imperative as an SMB to take IT security seriously.

While there are lots of technology tools that can help with preventing security breaches, it should be noted that a good security breach prevention approach should also consider Processes and People.

Just like the Technology tools, there are also lots of known and tested processes that can be implemented to protect an organizations IT assets.

People are the greatest assets of any organization and unfortunately are also the weakest link in Security.

It is imperative that the people in an organization are aware and able to prevent security breaches. Providing awareness training for your people on IT security has been proven to substantially reduce breaches.

Creating or remembering a password is usually not straightforward, especially when you have multiple passwords.

While there maybe some passwords that you can save in your browser, you are more safer using a password manager.

Most Password Manager use master key and encrypt your other passwords. Most browsers typically do not use master key. The master key provides additional security layer.

Although both Browsers and Password manager applications safe your passwords on the cloud, the password managers would typically encrypt on the machine before transmitting to the cloud. for storage.

A Password Manager can also help with ensuring that other security features are in place for your passwords including helping to generate strong passwords.

However, Password Managers cost money while the browsers extensions are typically free as they are extensions of the browser..

Overall, using a password manager if you do not want to remember your password is the best way to go. The browsers are coming behind fast and furious and can be used if the password you want to remember are not for very critical. You do not want to use a browser extension for a shared password.
