BeckTek l Business Technology Support

BeckTek l Business Technology Support For over 20 years, BeckTek has been helping Atlantic Canada businesses eliminate IT frustrations, It’s got to be getting close to lunchtime.

In 2002 Scott started asking small business owners and executives what they disliked about their computers, network and support. Over and over again, he heard spine-tingling, blow-by-blow accounts of things like:
- Our computer people take days to return my calls … And when they do all I hear is finger-pointing. Isn’t anyone accountable for anything anymore?
- It’s too complicated… we just want to do our jobs, run our business…
- Nobody understands how it impacts my business when things don't run properly
- I spend all this money on equipment and see no returns on the investment… They didn’t even explain why I needed the new stuff or what it was going to do for my business
- What time is it? My computer’s already locked up at least twice today.
- What am I paying for? Their bill and explanations are always in Geek Speak. Seeing an opportunity to provide something different, BeckTek - a Technology Management Firm- launched in March 2004 to help small businesses owners and executives run their businesses faster, easier and more profitably. Protecting client’s best interests and delivering a superior client service experience earned BeckTek a coveted Greater Moncton Excellence Award for Service Excellence, the only IT Company to do so in the 27 year history of the awards. Since opening BeckTek, Scott has talked before, met with and worked with hundreds of business owners and executives throughout Atlantic Canada. Scott enjoys helping business professionals get past their fears and uncertainty regarding technology. He is passionate about reducing client’s business risks, turning technology into a competitive advantage and improving their profitability. Over the past decade, Scott has had many of his articles and columns published in newspapers and magazines. He has appeared several times on TV’s Global News providing insight into technology issues. Presently Scott is in the process of writing his first book which is scheduled to be published in early 2014.

A safety net that you've never tested isn't a safety net. It's an assumption.

The goal isn't to just have data backed up. It's to be able to recover.

Schedule a quick call to make sure your safety net will be there when you need it most.

The difference between disruption and disaster is often preparation.

Myth: If I have backups, my data is protected.

Fact: Having backups and knowing they work are completely different things.

An untested backup is just a file taking up storage space. It could be corrupt, incomplete, incompatible with your current systems or so outdated it won't restore properly.

Your network includes users, devices, cloud storage, vendor connections and security layers. Each one is a potential failure point.

Testing reveals what works and what breaks.

Send us an email to schedule a backup validation. We'll verify if your recovery plan can perform when it matters.

You’ve invested in AI monitoring. You get alerts fast and know the moment something breaks. But AI flags the problem. It doesn’t fix it.

What happens in the minutes after the alert matters most.

Does your team know their roles? Has the recovery process ever been tested? Would your backups restore cleanly right now if you needed them to?

A smarter alarm is only worth something if you're ready for what comes after it fires.

Walking a tightrope without testing the net below is reckless.

Yet thousands of businesses operate this way with their technology. They have backups in place, recovery procedures documented and redundant systems running.

But they've never actually tested whether those backups restore completely, recovery procedures work as written or redundancy kicks in when needed.

The question isn't whether you have a safety net. The question is whether it holds.

Drop a 👍 if you've completed a full backup restoration test this year.

A seatbelt doesn't prevent accidents. It protects you when one happens.

You don't wear a seatbelt hoping for a crash, nor do you wear one that's never been tested.

Your backups work the same way. They're not meant to prevent system failures. They're meant to protect your business when failures occur.

But just as a seatbelt is tested for effectiveness, your backups need to be verified before a crisis hits.

Email us to check if your backup restores correctly. Don't discover it doesn't when you need it most.

Most businesses are confident their backups will work.

Until they have to prove it.

The best time to test your backups is before you need them. Let's start there.

In turbulent waters, what separates a manageable disruption from complete operational collapse?

The answer isn't hoping your systems hold up. It's knowing they will.

Staying afloat means your backups, recovery processes and security protocols are tested before the water rises, not after. Many business owners only discover they’re taking on water once they’re already sinking.

Reach out to us to discuss your recovery readiness, and we'll show you what gaps typically hide in backup processes that most businesses overlook.

Customers don't experience downtime the way your business does.

You see a technical issue. They see a crack in reliability.

Systems can be restored in hours, but trust takes much longer to rebuild.

That's why recovery isn't just about getting technology back online. It's about protecting the confidence you've worked hard to earn.
