Printer no longer connecting to new or upgraded Modem/Router from Bell/Rogers?

If you have just had your modem/router upgraded or replaced by your internet provider or simply moved from one provider to another and your printer will no longer connect - the cause?
Usually the connection is no longer detectable by the printers wifi card. Providers now tie all the wireless bandwidths together and 2.4GHz devices can no longer detect and connect.

Rather than buy a new printer, simply have your modem/router reconfigured to allow your printer and other 2.4GHz devices to reconnect.

Want to upgrade your current PC/Laptop to Windows 11? But it says it won't!!

Most PC's and laptops will run Windows 11, even if your Windows operating system says it can't. This was an issue created by Microsoft which made many capable devices redundant. This was done mostly for comercial purposes -selling new PC's/Laptops and moving as many people as they could onto Windows 11, as all new systems come with Windows 11 by default.

We can upgrade your device to Windows 11, even when it says it can't. It is straightforward in most cases. Some older PC's/Laptops may need a stirage drive upgrade or extra memory to support the speed required, but otherwise most system will run just fine.

The migration to Windows 11 is usually done as an inplace upgrade, some prefer a complete fresh installation, Windows 11 installed from scratch. Each system will be assessed for any issues.

Why would you move up to Windows 11? Well Windows 10 is coming to End Of Life in October this year, and to continue receiving updates, specifically security related, moving to the Windows 11 platform will help ensure you keep receiving these. Windows 11 also offers increased integration with other devices, cross platform data sharing, additional multmedia capabilities and more.

The cost of a new PC or Laptop can be inhibitive, setting it up and transferring all your data etc to the new system. With most devices, we can breathe new life into your system at a much lower cost and its still the same machine.

Facebook: Missing Video icon to Make Video Calls

Facebook since adding Meta AI to the top of the Contacts list has been having issues with making video calls, even when using Messenger as the Video Call icon went missing.

But alas video calling is now an option when you click the Phone Icon. When you select the contact you want to call, click on the phone icon and now have the option to make a voice or video call.

For some reason Facebook have decided not to alert end users to this feature and instead, the internet is full of people asking where the video icon has gone.

Mobile devices are unaffected by this change as they are on a different platform.

We hope this helps answer a question many have been asking.

Microsoft Offers Free Windows 10 Extended Security Updates: Here's How to Get Them

If you want Microsoft to continue to support your PC, you'll have to use cloud backups linked to your OneDrive Account.

The following item is to inform and educate only for any end user to decide whether they wish to upgrade or remain on the Windows 10 platform and that there are more options than just scrapping your existing system or upgrading because you feel you have too.

Microsoft is "closing" the door on Windows 10 in October 2025, and will be ceasing security support for that operating system unless users pay $30 (USD) for a one-year extended security update.

BUT!!!!! Now, Microsoft has added a free option. Users need to turn on cloud backup and connect it to their OneDrive account. The ability to get free updates on Windows 10 is a pretty big deal because it is still the most widely used Windows OS, accounting for just over 53% of installs as of May 2025. That leaves millions of people without security support in just a few months unless they upgrade. So the cloud backup option gives users a way out without costing them any money.

However Windows 10 still remains the No1 operating system and many will probably stick with the OS for a considerable time longer, much the same as they did with XP and 7 before it, Microsoft has probably realised that this transition and all of the issues they are having with Windows 11 as a stable and reliable system are causing a huge backlash.

One of the problems many users have come across is Google Chrome being blocked by a new update, this comes on the back of several disasterous updates recently that have gone from hiding user toolbars and icons to completely ttrashing the Windows OS all together. Not a good look if you are trying to sell this to the general populus.

So where is the catch? Well its this - The potential issue is OneDrive. Anyone with a Microsoft account gets up to 5GB of storage for free. However, some backups may exceed this limitation, requiring users to purchase a monthly or yearly plan. At $1.99 per month (USD) for 100GB of cloud storage, a year of OneDrive still costs less than the $30 (USD) for a year of additional security updates, but it still may cause frustration among some users.

Another caveat and probably the one that might tip a lot of users against this, is the fact that they would need to have a live account, which many realise opens their machines and their data up to access by Microsoft and their partners - the main reason they have a local account to begin with.

But there it is, do you stick or twist? Theres also the arguement that Microsoft release all of these updates because there are serious security flaws and performance issues, so it always pays to protect yourself and your data at all times. Always back up your data, make sure you have a copy of your passwords in a safe and secure place.

Never give away your email address or private information to any third party, as this can be sold to anyone willing to buy it.

How to get Windows 10 security updates for free?

Per Microsoft's blog post, there are now three options for people who want to stay on Windows 10 and still receive security updates.

Use Windows Backup to sync settings to the cloud via OneDrive.

Redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points. Redeeming those points can buy you one year of security updates.

Pay $30 for the extended security updates program.

Users will be presented with these options starting in July, which is when Microsoft plans to roll out the sign-up wizard for the Extended Security Updates program. Signing up for this option will guarantee updates until Oct. 13, 2026, although businesses will have the option to purchase up to three years of additional updates. So, this isn't a long-term solution, but rather gives consumers more time to upgrade to Windows 11.

It's been an uphill battle for Microsoft as people have been resilient in upgrading their existing hardware. There are myriad differences between the two operating systems, but Microsoft's string of unpopular decisions along with Windows 11 compatibility issues have kept the prior generation OS around a lot longer than it normally would be.

We hope this information has been helpful to you.

Windows 10 End of Life! Whats Next? What will happen?

Many people believe that their existing laptop of PC will not be upgradable to Windows 11, this is not true. Microsoft acknowledge the fact that many devices that are capable of running their latest operating system are being sent to landfill earlier than they should. Part of what Micorsoft did with the release of Windows 11 and previously the same as Windows Vista was planned obsolescence, which was more to push their sales and their partners sales with software and hardware, than to provide a more productive tool for the end user (the consumer).

The fact is, most devices can be upgraded to Windows 11, maybe not directly, but as long as they are capable of running decently. This can be achieved with an upgrade or 2, sometimes none, depending on the current hardware configuration of your system.

Mechanical hard drives (HDD's) have long been a target of flaws within Windows 10 and carried over to Windows 11. This flaw being that, mechanical drives (with a head that reads/writes data across disks/platters) are subject to running at 100% non stop. This flaw emerged after the 3rd version of Windows 10 released and was never resolved by Microsoft. I wonder why? However, upgrading this to a Solid State Drive (SSD) resolves this issue and does more for the machines performance with Windows 10 and 11 than additional memory on its own. In other words, adding additional memory to your laptop/pc when you have a traditional mechanical hard drive does next to nothing if you have the 100% issue.

We recommend that if you dont have an SSD (Solid State Drive) and you want to keep your existing lapto/PC then doing this upgrade will assist in not only upgrading to Windows 11 but improving the performace of the device overall. In some cases, addtional memory can be added where heavier graphic use may be part of the demand with usage. We recommend at least 8GB, which helps keep things running smoothly and releases the power of the operating system in tandem with the SSD. However we have seen many laptops/pc's run fine with 4GB's for basic browsing, emails etc.

When October arrives and Windows 10 support comes to an end, you will stop receiving updates for this version of Windows from Microsoft. It will not mean that Windows will stop working. Your device will just carry on as before, however upgrading to Windows 11, is about security of your device and your data. But as stated above, most laptops and PC's are upgradable to this platform...planning ahead just now can save a lot of problems later on, but remember, you dont have to buy a new PC/laptop.

NOTE: We acknowledge the existance of TMP 2.0, however, this is not a roadblock to home users continuing to use devices they have paid good money for and can continue to get a return on their investment until such times as the device breaks or its decided its time to replace it.

Have a PC/Latop that you want to upgrade or update to Windows 11 24H2? No problem!

We can upgrade, update, service your current machine - saving $100's dollars on a new system.

Windows 11 24H2 has just been released and many current users may have a Windows machine that has Windows 10 installed that wont upgrade to Windows 11 or a Windows 11 device that won't upgrade to the new version.

This is due to Microsoft's coding within Windows 11 which attempted to make millions of Windows based devices obsolete. But in truth, most of these devices are more than capable of running Windows 11.

Most devices run smoother and faster with solid state drives installed as opposed to a standard mechanical hard drive, it gives additional speed and performance that will enhance the productivity of Windows 11 (the same is true for Windows 10 machines). In some cases additional memory may be required. (All of this being cheaper than a new system).

Your PC or laptop does not have to be thrown away, recycled when it is still perfectly capable of giving more service.
