We are pleased to have attended the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police Conference in Medicine Hat, Alberta, last week, where we met Elder Charlie Fox. Our President, Murray Rowe Jr., Western Vice President, Neil Dubord and a partner of ours, Founding Chairman of Investigative Solutions Network Inc. (ISN) represented IndigenousTech.ai and Forrest Green at the conference.đźš”

Our national team focuses on numerous types of education, including financial literacy, business, technology, data collection, cybersecurity and an AI-powered dermatology solution that can also do cancer screening within communities.🖥️

We have relationships with over 60% of police agencies in Canada, including First Nations police services, through the provision of technology solutions and training.đź’»

While technology can feel intimidating, it can bring major benefits to First Nation communities when used properly and supported with the right guidance.đźš“ đź‘®

Technology is our future; we cannot overlook it. We need to learn from it and use it in ways that help us.

Like the saying goes: Work smarter, not harder.

Did you know?

This year will be the sixth year running our Summer Internship Program for Indigenous Youth across Canada.

Our 8-week Indigenous Internship Program encourages indigenous youth/adults to pursue a career in technology and a life-long learning journey around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM). These skills help build local capacity and create higher income jobs on reserve.

“There are 2 challenges preventing Indigenous youth from pursuing technology- related training. The first challenge is the cost of training. Indigneoustech.ai offers a paid internship program! Our FREE financial literacy courses provide credit and business fundamentals for their financial growth.

“The second challenge is technology training and the lack of opportunities. More than 50% of remote Indigenous surveyed said they saw no technology training opportunities in their community. “Education is essential to fostering indigenous leadership in technology, but it must be designed and implemented in a good way.”

Niagara Falls is turning blue March 21st in honor of National Indigenous Water Operator Day! Every minute, 6 million cubic ft of water passes over these falls. But this is just a drop in a bucket compared to the vast interconnected system of lakes, rivers, and streams that flows over Turtle Island. Can you imagine what would happen if all that water became unsuitable? Clean water is linked to enhanced health outcomes, economic development, and even improves mental health. https://lnkd.in/evSKueWw

Water is essential and yet there are 37 Indigenous communities that have long-term drinking water advisories. At .ai , we partnered with the Canadian Water Agency to help develop a data platform to share water quality data between communities, while protecting data sovereignty. The platform will make it easier for Water Operators to bring clean and vital water to all Canadian communities

Cheyenne’s Inspirational Internship Story

3 years ago Arterra Wines Canada and IndigenousTech.ai collaborated on a wine making internship for MCFN (Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation) band members. Cheyenne was one of those interns - she knew the opportunity wouldn’t come around again, and it was a good opportunity to take. This unique internship got her out of her comfort zone and paved the way for a new phase. Now she has her very own story to tell.

“We are a strong people for sure, but sometimes we have to be lucky as well. I truly believe in what I have been calling “Indian Magic” – How some things happen out of the blue and don’t make any sense but still make you wonder in amazement. How and why did that just happen?” – Chief Clarence Louie, Rez Rules

Canada has long recognized housing as a human right, affirming this position in 2019 with the passing of the National Housing Strategy Act. According to Ontario Housing Services, the province housing crisis has reached unprecedented levels. Furthermore, their policy framework states that the crisis disproportionally impacts Indigenous peoples, resulting in poorer outcomes on both an individual and community level.

Following the recommendations form Alternative Financing for Indigenous Housing, having more Indigenous bankers and business owners to help navigate complex processes such as first-time home ownership or building housing on reservation lands would make a substantial difference. Financial literacy is also key to navigating our existing systems while building towards a better, more equitable future. That is why IndigenousTech.ai offers both financial literacy and business fundamental courses! Build a better tomorrow by reaching out today.

On this Family Day, we are thinking about younger cousins and the world open to them – the digital world. 👩‍💻 Family reunions for me have been a slow affair of switching from climbing up trees to talking about the vast world of the future as a new generation grows into their bodies and into themselves. They could stand to grow a little less! Most are taller than me already. Some young people refer to themselves as Digital Natives, as they build critical knowledge including cybersecurity knowledge, it is our responsibility to younger family members to use technology responsibly. New innovations through AI are dramatically transforming the fields of medical technology, programming, security, and countless others. It is exciting to see how our kids use these tools. Here’s to family, and here’s to the future! 👩‍👩‍👧‍👦
