Just a note to my fellow Canadians!

With the political elections coming up and the current political turmoil in the world, please be extra cautious as scammers will do everything they can to take advantage of anyone they can during these impassioned times.

If someone posts, emails or messages something offering a great deal on investment, a way to 'Show Your Support' for a political candidate or cause, NEVER click the link in the post, email or message. Instead seek out the legitimate source by using the commonly used site or contact info for the candidate or organization.

With the advent of AI,.please be aware that it is now even faster and easier for scammers to make convincing fakes of websites, emails and now even audio and video with voice cloning and deep fake technologies.

Not everything you see on YouTube is real, even the ads can be fake or scams:

For example, there is a Professional scam artist claiming you can make money watching YouTube videos

His name is Lucas Lee Ty---, and his long ads keep popping up on YouTube. Every time he makes up a new BS story about how he became a multimillionaire at age 24. This time it is YouTube's "Digital Residual Program" where YouTube pays you for watching videos, but you need to claim this money. How? Sign up for his classes and you'll find out how... how you have been scammed!

This is just one example out of many of the scams out there that are set up to trap honest. trusting people.

Remember, if you think something is too good to be true, it probably is.

If you are tempted to try something or are curious if something is a scam, msg me and send the details to me, I will tell you if it is on the up and up or not. I'd rather spend some time doing that, than hear that someone else has fallen prey to another one of these con artists.

With spring here and summer approaching, and travel ramping up, be sure to bring your own charging cables and power bricks with you to charge up your devices!

Did you know that there is such a thing as an O.M.G. cable??? It's a special cable that looks EXACTLY like a regular charging cable, but it has the ability to give your devices malware, viruses and steal your data!!! Don't accept charging cables from strangers even if your device is almost out of power!!!

Please be aware that there is now technology that allows scammers to recreate the voice of someone you know or respect.

Two different cautions on this one:

1) There are lots of phone calls coming where they don't say anything, but try to get you to start talking so they get a sample of your voice so they can use it to either scam you or your loved ones.

How you can avoid this: If a call comes in from a number you don't know, DON'T SAY ANYTHING UNTIL YOU HEAR THE OTHER SIDE SPEAK. IF ITS A RECORDING, DON'T REPLY OR SAY ANYTHING.

2) If you receive a call from someone sounding like a loved one asking for money or gift cards to get them out of a jam (often bail or some other legal issue), tell them you can bring it personally to them, and refuse to do anything else... they will back down when they realize that you won't be bullied into something.

Remember when sending out Seasons Greetings to lots of people by email, put all the email addresses in the BCC not in the To...

Putting a list of email addresses in the To box of an email opens all those people to give each other viruses and to get targeted for spam and malicious emails.

BCC hides all the addresses of the addresses from everyone in the list but you!

Remember, during the holidays, there are a great number of scammers that will use the fact that a lot of packages are being sent at this time of the year.

Beware of clicking on links to track packages, instead, use the appropriate app or website to track your packages.

Doing this will lessen the chance you pick up a nasty virus on your computer, phone or tablet.
