We’re happy to have been represented at DoKDoK 2026, where our MPBers Andrew Smith and Frédéric Maes presented:
🚀 “From Lab to Orbit: Designing Space-Qualified Optical Amplifiers”

During the presentation, we explored:
🔹 Why optical technologies are becoming essential in space
🔹 How is contributing to satellite communications ( )
🔹 Design considerations for space applications
🔹 And why a Career in Space Photonics is so exciting

It was a great opportunity to share our expertise, connect with the community, and discuss the exciting role of optical technologies in the future of space communications.

And a special congratulations to our two quiz winners, pictured here with their well-deserved prizes! 🏆🎉

Thank you to everyone who joined us and took part in the fun!

We're proud to have supported an inspiring group of Grade 11 students from Eric Hamber Secondary School in Vancouver as they represented Canada at the ESA - European Space Agency in Amsterdam.

After winning Canada's Design Challenge, a national competition where students design, 3D-print, and launch a soda-can-sized satellite to solve real-world problems, the team earned the opportunity to compete alongside students from 25 other countries.

Congratulations on this outstanding achievement! ✨ It's inspiring to see the next generation of Canadian innovators showcase their talent, creativity, and passion for space technology.

We wish you continued success as you reach for even greater heights. 🇨🇦 🚀

It was our pleasure to welcome Laurent Jaffart, Director of Resilience, Navigation and Connectivity at the ESA - European Space Agency and Jean-Claude Piedboeuf, Senior Vice President, Space Programs at the Canadian Space Agency and the rest of the ESA/ CSA delegation to MPB Communications in Montreal.

Following discussions on next-generation optical connectivity in space—and building on our successful collaborations with ESA and CSA in advancing cutting-edge optical amplifier technologies—we were proud to present our fully operational, serial production line purpose-built for space-grade optical amplifiers.

With high-volume manufacturing already running at scale for our 5W amplifier/ preamplifier platform, we are now accelerating the transition of our next-generation optical amplifier technologies from advanced research to full-scale deployment. This progression will play a critical role in enabling high-capacity, multiwavelength, multi-orbit satellite systems.

We recognize and commend the forward-looking vision and sustained commitment of ESA and CSA in driving innovation, helping to shape the future of secure, resilient, and high-performance satellite communication networks.
