Before Buying a Used PC or Laptop, Check These 4 Things First! 🖥️⚡
Thinking of buying a used PC or laptop? Don’t spend your money until you’ve checked these important things!
1. Check the Display
Open Notepad and maximize it to full screen. Look carefully for any dead pixels, bright spots, lines, or display defects. If you notice dots that don’t disappear, the screen may have issues.
2. Check the Hard Drive Health
Open Microsoft Store, search for CrystalDiskInfo, and install it.
Launch the app to view the drive’s health status. If the drive health is below 70%, you may want to avoid that system or factor in the cost of a replacement drive.
3. Test CPU and GPU Performance
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, then go to the Performance tab.
Run a demanding application or benchmark and monitor CPU and GPU usage, temperatures, and system stability. High usage alone is normal during heavy workloads, but crashes, overheating, or severe throttling are warning signs.
4. Check Battery Health
Open Command Prompt and type:
powercfg /batteryreport
Press Enter.
Windows will generate a battery report and show its location. Open the report in your browser and compare Full Charge Capacity to Design Capacity. If the full charge capacity is less than half of the design capacity, the battery may need replacement.

Good evening folks :)
I have refurbished an older Desktop Computer and installed Win10.
It's an average PC but runs good. Perfect for a young one just starting out or an older person who just needs to check emails, surf the 'net, etc. You would need your own mouse and keyboard.

This is very true. I have stopped using remote assistance because it's a hack waiting to happen, but mainly because the user would block me and shutdown right after the job was finished - hence no pay for me. But if you've ever had someone repair your computer via remote assistance, always make sure to remove the residual software.
If you're not sure, you can always ask me for assistance.

SCAM ALERT! YOU'LL NEED IMMEDIATE SERVICING 🤓

If your screen suddenly says:

🚨 “Virus detected!”
📞 “Call Microsoft immediately!”
⏳ Countdown timer / alarm sounds
That is NOT Microsoft.
It’s a scam.
Here’s what happens if you call:
⚠️ They convince you something is wrong
⚠️ They get you to install remote access software
⚠️ They “show” fake problems
⚠️ Then they charge you… or worse, steal data
Microsoft does NOT:
❌ Put phone numbers in popups
❌ Ask you to call for virus alerts
❌ Remotely connect to your computer like that
What you SHOULD do:
🛑 Don’t click anything
❌ Don’t call the number
🔒 Close the browser (Ctrl + Alt + Delete if needed)
🔄 Restart your computer
If it keeps coming back…
👉 That’s when you need to get it properly cleaned/serviced.
💡 If it tells you to call… it’s a scam.

On April 1, 2026, the City of Pitt Meadows officially de-integrated from the shared detachment policing model with the City of Maple Ridge. Pitt Meadows RCMP has been operating autonomously and is dedicated to policing the community and residents of Pitt Meadows.
We are pleased to inform the public that the new facility is now open to the public and front counter police services have been transferred to the main detachment at 12486 Harris Road. Front counter police services were being temporarily provided at the Community Policing Office behind City Hall.
“We are honoured enter this new chapter of policing for the City of Pitt Meadows and the Katzie First Nation,” says Staff Sergeant Michelle Luca, Pitt Meadows RCMP Detachment Commander. “We are looking forward to providing tailored policing services from our new facility that has been built to accommodate the current and future needs of the RCMP and the communities.”

Always recycle BUT - before you go that route, I can Diagnose it first, and if the laptop/desktop/Macbook/iMac cannot be refurbished or deemed unusable, I can find and transfer any old data/files/pics you may want, transfer them to another storage device/computer, then I'll professionally WIPE the hard drive so none of your personal data can be accessed. After this has been done, I'll recycle it for you 🙂
