On September 30th, The Loomex Group recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This is a day to honour the survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and all the impacted families and Indigenous communities across Canada.

Through our emergency management work, we have had the privilege of supporting First Nations communities during evacuations, large-scale displacements, and other emergencies. These experiences continue to remind us that emergency management is about much more than logistics and response—it is about people, relationships, trust, and respect.

We are grateful for the knowledge, patience, and perspectives that Indigenous leaders, Elders, community members, and partners have shared with our team. Each time we work together, we have had an opportunity to listen, learn, and strengthen the ways we support communities during some of their most difficult moments.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a time to remember, to listen, and to learn. It is a day that reminds us of the steps that still need to be taken. And it is a chance for us to renew our commitment to walking forward together.

On September 11, 2001, countless lives were impacted, and the worlds of aviation, emergency response, and public safety were forever changed.

That day also showed what happens when people are called to respond to a crisis of inestimable magnitude. First responders ran toward a danger they had never seen before. Aviation professionals managed an unprecedented disruption. Communities across Canada opened their airports and their homes to thousands of stranded travellers.

Now, 25 years later, those lessons about readiness, leadership, and looking after one another matter as much as ever.

Today, we remember all of those who were affected by 9/11. We remember the fear and the uncertainty, but we also remember the courage and selflessness. We continue to be inspired by what can be achieved when people come together in the face of unimaginable adversity.

Wildfire season is impacting communities across Canada, causing significant damage and devastation to lives, property, and the environment. As response efforts are underway, The Loomex Group is dedicated to supporting communities facing evacuation.

For several years, The Loomex Group has worked alongside municipal, provincial, Indigenous, and emergency management partners to help coordinate wildfire evacuations. Our team is providing planning, logistical, and operational support for these response efforts.

We are grateful for the trust placed in our team, and we commend the hard work and dedication of all firefighters, first responders, emergency managers, volunteers, and community leaders who are working tirelessly to keep people safe.

To everyone affected by the 2026 wildfire season, know that you are not facing it alone.

The Loomex Group is helping to bring together Peterborough's aerospace and defence community.

On June 23, 2026, the Peterborough Aerospace and Defence Cluster (PADC) held its inaugural meeting. The PADC is a regional network focused on supporting the growth of Peterborough’s aerospace and defence sectors and supply chains. The committee was launched through a collaboration between the City of Peterborough, The Loomex Group, ACF Associates, and Explorer Solutions. The intent of the PADC is to connect manufacturers, suppliers, innovators, academic institutions, and government partners in order to support industry growth across the region.

That’s the reality of airport operations, and it’s exactly why the people behind it matter.

Today, we’re recognizing the airport professionals who adapt, solve problems, support one another, and keep airports moving, no matter what the day brings.

The Municipality of Port Hope has officially adopted its Wildland Fire Management Plan.

Developed by Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services and The Loomex Group, the plan is an important step in helping the community better understand, prepare for, and reduce wildfire risk.

Projects like this are built through strong partnerships. Thank you to Fire Chief Jason Williams and the many emergency service, municipal, and provincial partners who contributed their knowledge, expertise, and local insight throughout the process.

In aviation, that mindset is not always wrong.

Routine creates consistency.
And consistency reduces operational mistakes.

But airport environments do not stay static forever.

Traffic changes.
Equipment changes.
Weather patterns shift.
Staffing evolves.
Operational pressure changes with time.

The strongest operations teams are usually the ones that know the difference between:
a routine that still protects the operation,
and a routine that people simply stopped questioning.

Experience matters in aviation.

So does adapting when conditions no longer match the way things used to work.

One of the strongest indicators of a healthy airport operation is how early issues get reported.

A loose light fitting.
Wildlife activity increasing near the airfield.
Equipment response times slowing down.
A process that no longer works the way it was intended to.

Strong operational teams do not ignore those things quietly.

They raise them early because they trust:
the concern will be taken seriously,
the response will be fair,
and the issue will actually get addressed.

That is what good safety culture looks like in practice.

Not posters.
Not slogans.

Operational trust built through consistent follow-through over time.
