In the run up to the 2008 general elections in the United States, President Obama delivered an inspiring speech and here’s an excerpt: “Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”.

In my interpretation, what that means is that, we are the ones to change our world. Aliens won’t change the world for us. Angels won’t offer us the transformation we seek as a people. Our rescue is in our own hands. On a national scale, we are starting to see reactions & agitations of this sort in Africa’s most populous country Nigeria. That’s what happens when a generation decides to rise!

We already have all the tools and we do not any permission to make the changes we desire to see in our lives and in our world – across diverse sectors. That’s Leadership at its finest — leaders are dealers in hope, leaders are instigators, leaders are initiators, leaders are change makers. And leadership is a choice, a skill and an attitude, not so much a talent. Which means you can be trained for it. You can horn this skill and be better at it.

It’s not true that a leader is someone who is not you. It is not true that the best of us is an unattainable ambition. It is not true that the ‘beautiful ones’ & that golden generation has not been born. Whether we are aware or not, greatness has been circumstantially thrust upon us and we must rise up to the occasion. It’s our ‘come-up’ season.

You are the one to change the face of political leadership in your country, you are the one to make the educational system work for the generality of the people and democratize power in a way we have never experienced before, you are the one to create products & services that solves important problems and draws on the purchasing power of people from across the globe. If it’s not you, then who? If it’s not now, then tell me, when?

You have been born for such a time as this!

You’re the one we have been waiting for and we need you to lead us!

Don't miss the concluding session today Friday 28th @ 7.40pm GMT +1.

On Monday I shared a couple of revolutionary ideas and reminded the participants that:
- Work is not a place (the resurgence of remote work is already a testament to this);
- Entrepreneurship is not a job and no one is born an entrepreneur (it’s rather an attitude/mindset that we can all model);
- Responsibility and leadership are not often given on a platter (it should be negotiated and taken);
- Failing fast is the sure way to success and only those who are comfortable embracing the ‘work that might not work’ will have a shot at greatness;
- They already have all the tools and permission (not that they needed it) to become the best they could possibly be (you should therefore not wait to be picked but rather choose yourself);
- With the COVID-19 lockdown, the world has been slowed down so ‘those behind’ can catch up. It’s come-up season for the discerning!
... just to mention a few!.

I’ll be wrapping up the conversation today and will be delivering a strong manifesto on why:

- Mentors don't scale (more strategic to seek for heroes & role-models);
- We need more ‘impostors’ – everyone leading the path of greatness is learning on the job (you should consider to be one);
- The boat you are on, matters more than your rowing ability (people are your greatest asset);
- A devil's advocate in your circle is your best chance of getting real world-feedback (everyone has a great plan until they get punched in the face — reality check).
- Conviction is not truth – stay open & keep learning (you can be very sure & yet very wrong);
- ‘Following your passion’ is an outdated idea, rather take your passion with you to every opportunity that comes your way (opportunity is superior to passion);
- Potentially, a genius is not someone who isn’t you (you're baddass, so make a ruckus);
- One story is as good as another – own your story, tell your story;
- You can get lucky intentionally by showing up every day; ...and many much more!

No matter your faith or theology, you will not be excused from the challenges of this life. Ever wondered that, despite the fact that Jesus was in the boat of those folks, the storm still hit hard on them to the point that they thought they were going to die.

We were all making other plans for 2020 before COVID-19 struck — that’s life. Storms don’t request for permission. When it rains it pours on both the house that is built on sand and the one built on the rock. The difference in outcomes is in their solidity and rootedness. Whatever power or faith brings, it takes wisdom to sustain, it’s the reason why Jesus is made for us, the power and the wisdom of God (1 Cor.1:24). That balance is critical for leading a successful life. When the going gets tough, the tough shouldn’t merely get going — that’s naive & foolhardy — now is the time to seek collaboration with wisdom & power centers. Now is the time to seek resourceful allies as we all navigate through this existential storm that is threatening our societies, businesses, careers, marriages, careers, families et cetera.

The question is not really about what will the post covid 19 world look like or how it will affect our everyday life. No, that shouldn’t bother you so much. The real question is, what are you going to do about it?

I had the privilege of making a presentation at the United Nations in Geneva at a Public hearing, themed, “Practical Implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals”. And I spoke about “How businesses can participate in solving unemployment problems and raise the standard of living of citizens”.

This roundtable had the representation & participation of business & policy leaders from across 5 continents of the world and it was a delight to meet, connect and share ideas to give forward motion to our world.

My every day Valentine ,

They say that the taste of the pudding is in the eating. I have tasted and seen that the Lord is good. Hahaha.

It’s exactly 2 months today we walked down the aisle and I’m grateful for every moment shared.

Your family and the family.

Imagine a world where we treated others like we treated our own relatives?

Think about how much of a difference it will make if we wanted the good of everyone we meet, everywhere we go like we’d do to our loved ones. Think about the impact of these on our communal living & society’s crime rate.

You know, just over two thousand years ago, there were just about a thousand people on planet earth, according to biblical history. Everybody was related to everybody. So, few they had to marry along extended family lines. That’s how small _the family_ was. Scale that to 2020 and we have over 7 billion people on the planet and it now looks like a game of _us and them_ when it is actually _us and us_ – your family is a part of the family. And we all owe ourselves love and goodness.

You are supposed to live by the _Golden rule_ at all times and treat others the way you yourself would want to be treated by them. And to make up for diversity in people, culture and context, you can add the _Platinum rule_ as well: treat others as they would want to be treated by you.
