Printmaking is fun, exciting, and a great way to share a creative experience. This year at the I helped to host a printamaking activity to give more people the chance to experience some of the magic. We carved some flowers and butterflies, then had partidipants help us print them on coloured papers. It was great fun, and we had a wonderful day adding artwork to a fabric tapestry to make a garden of printed artwork.

Thanks to everyone who participated!

Behind every community event are the people who make it happen.

This is just a glimpse of some of the volunteers behind the setup of this weekend’s exhibits at the Burford Fair.

These photos don’t capture everyone — not even close. Months of planning and work go into bringing the fair together. So while you’re enjoying the midway, the music, the food, the competitions, the animals, the exhibits and everything else happening around the fairgrounds, take a moment to appreciate the people working behind the scenes — and maybe say thank you.

The Burford Fair is a chance to celebrate our agricultural roots, our creativity and the community we live in.

Don’t miss the chance to be part of an experience that comes around only once a year. Come out, take it all in, and experience the Burford Fair.

What will our community say about art?

That's what we're going to find out.

On September 27, we're inviting you to help create a very special piece of community art — a large-scale latch-hooked Grand Culture logo made from hundreds of individual contributions.

You'll have a chance to put your own words to the question:
What does art mean to you?

Then you'll add your piece to the artwork and watch the picture grow as other people add theirs.

It's a celebration of the many ways we create, experience and understand art — and the many people who make our creative community what it is.

Sunday, September 27 | 1–4 PM
Cainsville Community Centre | 15 Ewart Avenue, Brantford
FREE

The project is happening alongside Art – A Community Treasure Show and Sale, so make a day of it: explore the exhibition, see the work of local artists, and then help us create something together.

Bring your family. Bring a friend. Bring your idea of what art means to you.

Let's make something that belongs to all of us.

A photo from last year's Art – A Community Treasure Show & Sale — and we're getting ready to do it all again.

Jocelyn and I have been busy behind the scenes at Treasure Mattes planning this year's show, bringing together local artists and their work for a day that celebrates the creativity in our community.

This year, I'm also adding something new.

Alongside the exhibition, I'll be inviting visitors to help create a large-scale Grand Culture community artwork. Choose a piece of fabric, write what art means to you, and add it to the growing latch-hook piece.

I love that the two ideas will be happening side by side: an exhibition celebrating what artists in our community create, and an artwork our community creates together.

Come see the art. Meet the artists. And leave a little piece of yourself behind.

This girl just left for university.

I made this print of my daughter a few years ago. At the time, it was simply a portrait of her — one of those images that caught something familiar that I wanted to hold onto.

It feels a little different to me now.

With her leaving for university, both of my kids are officially out of the house. I'm still figuring out what that change feels like. The house is quieter. My time is different. And after so many years of life being shaped around raising a family, there's suddenly a little more space to figure out what comes next.

I have a feeling art is going to be a pretty important part of that.
Maybe that's one of the things I love about making art. The work stays the same, but we change around it — and sometimes it means something completely different when we come back to it.

Another Holmedale Art Crawl in the books!

A huge thank you to those that braved the rainy weather and stopped by to support local artists! It was really great to see friendly faces and share my work with you.

I had a great time helping some people print their own cards and introducing them to the printmaking process.

A huge shout out to the organizers of the event! I am so grateful for your efforts to bring the art community together in such an impactful way! Cheers to helping artists get their work seen!!!

A little waterlogged, but happy and grateful.
