Trump
Donald John Trump (1946)
American business man, media personality and the 45th president of the United States (2017-2021).

This piece started with the idea of using the style and color palettes of British portraitist George Dawe (1781-1829) and his series of paintings of Napoleonic era Russian generals.
Bringing that tonality and mood into a modern figure while weaving in the traditions of American Presidents portraits mixed with fantasy artists such as Boris Vallejo or Ken Kelly (Trump being such an 80s-90s icon).

It was an interesting subject to paint; the hardest part of it being getting the hair to look the part.

Like him or not, everybody seems to have an opinion on the man. Only time will reveal things more clearly to us.
Nevertheless, one could still call him one of the most polarizing man in history.

Xartan - Gladiator of Ungor
Born in the mountainous regions of Ungor, Xartan was captured as a youth and sent slaving in the salt mines of the outer realms. Sold to a rich merchant he was trained in the gladiatorial arts and was a staple in the coliseum until his escape during the recent unrest in the city-state.
He now roams the land selling his sword to the highest bidder, living for bounty and adventure.

Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini (1883–1945)
Duce of Fascism (1919-1945)

A historical figure that is somewhat polarizing to this day, Mussolini is still regarded by some in his native country as a great figure of the not to distant past. His biography, which I have not yet gotten too, is on my long list of books to read.

With this portrait I tried emulating the style and color palettes of Italian film poster artist Jean (Gianfranco) Mascii.

Mussolini is quoted as having said "Democracy is beautiful in theory; in practice it is a fallacy. You in America will see that some day." and "The truth is that men are tired of liberty."
Here are two quotes that illustrate well the last 70 years and shows that we must be students of the past to understand the present and shape the future.

Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev (1894-1971)
First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1953–1964)

I was inspired to paint this complex character after having finished William Taubman's book "Khrushchev: The man and his era".

I strived to emulate the look and grandeur of the soviet realist painters by showcasing the idea of, more than the man himself.

A walking contradiction who tried his best to live up to old ideas while at the same time trying to destroy them. To reform and yet conserve. A communist true-believer and a cynic.
Here's a look at a deeply flawed yet interesting man.

Digital painting of an american movie icon. I had actually started that one last year, but finally got around to finishing it. I'm very happy with how it turned out; so much so that I've gotten it printed on canvas. I'll post a picture of it when it arrives and is framed.

New Draugr painting is up;
Check out this massive behemoth from the northern waste!

An illustration and original inked piece for a hulking Draugr (undead from Norse mythos) designed for a small game demo. I re-worked the face and body on that one to make him less "cartoony" and also more imposing Another fun one to do and I hope you guys like it.

A final illustration and inked piece for a Draugr (undead from Norse mythos) designed for a small game demo that a few colleagues and I put together in our spare time. I really liked the way this one turned out even though it gave me trouble along the way.
