🔍 We received an alert from our solution for an we protect. While many would dismiss it as another routine , our team at Ninpo Inc. leaves no stone unturned—we review every , no matter how minor it may seem.

Upon inspection, we noticed that our client had already started interacting with the email. Initially deemed safe, the email was later flagged by Perception Point's AI due to suspicious behavior.

Our member reached out to the accountant, who was confident that the email was legitimate—sent by an employee of one of their clients requesting a bank account update prior to next payroll. The timeline went as follows:

1️⃣ An "employee" emailed Company A’s department to update their bank account info before the next payroll.
2️⃣ Company A’s HR forwarded this to Company B (the accounting firm we protect), where the accountant processed the change.

The catch? The "employee" was a who successfully deceived both Company A's HR and Company B's accountant.

Initially, the accountant confirmed that the request seemed legitimate, based on his interactions with the "employee," who was actually the scammer. We were on the verge of closing the ticket as a . However, we pressed by asking the accountant to verify the request directly with Company A’s HR department and the real employee in question.

The result? It was indeed a scam. Fortunately, the payment had not yet been made, allowing the accountant to reverse the bank account change just in time.
