Map panels that help visitors navigate though the changing LeBreton Flats/Chaudière Falls area. The graphics are meant to interpret the site as a "palimpsest", since the area has evolved dramatically throughout the region's history but still bears visible traces of its layered past. The imagery was derived from aerial photographs and filtered with a sketched technique to facilitate drawing in future modifications and additions.
In its current chaotic state of redevelopment, it is important to remember that despite its seeming emptiness, this area somehow holds the soul of the city and its raison d'être: It was the awesome power of the falls that caused the Anishinaabe (and the early explorers) travelling along the river to pause and contend with a formidable force of nature, thus creating a meeting point; It also attracted the first settlers and industry well before this place was the capital of Confederation.
