SharePoint introduces Quick Edit.

Microsoft is adding in a new Quick Edit feature to SharePoint lists and libraries.

The new feature enables users to create all column types directly from Quick Edit. Streamlining the SharePoint columns process will mean users can group, categorize, and track information, in a list or library, much faster.

Microsoft is replacing the legacy column creation in Quick Edit with the modern column creation. Users will also be able to Edit their columns’ settings directly in Quick Edit.

Microsoft Teams: Contextual Search

With the new update, users will be able to find information faster with contextual search in Microsoft Teams.

Contextual search means users will now have the ability to search for content in a specific channel or chat by pressing CTRL + F. Search results will only contain messages and files found in the selected chat or channel.

This new search feature will compliment Teams' current search bar which searches through all files, chats and channels.

Create new Visio diagrams in Microsoft Teams.

Users can now create diagrams directly in Teams from the Files tab above the conversation window in a Teams channel.

To create the diagrams, users simply have to select New > Visio drawing. Once selected they can then collaborate with their team members.

Visio drawings on Teams can easily be shared with colleagues, as Team’s file libraries are accessible to every member. This integration makes it easy for colleagues to edit, comment and collaborate while working remotely.

It should be noted that Teams is available through a Microsoft 365 subscription, which is a separate license from the Visio Plan 1 or Visio Plan 2 subscription.

Automated transcription services for video and audio files stored in SharePoint & OneDrive (Public Preview)

Microsoft is making automated transcription services natively available for video and audio files in OneDrive and SharePoint. The transcription services will apply the same high-standard AI technology that is currently available in Microsoft Stream.

The transcription will be available while viewing a video or listening to an audio file. A full transcript will show directly in Microsoft's industry-leading viewer, which supports over 320 different file types. This will help users utilize their personal video and audio assets, collaborate with others to produce their best work and improve both accessibility and search.
