A speed test doesn't just measure speed. It also checks how quickly and consistently your device communicates with the internet.

One of the most common questions in home networking:

Should you use 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi?

The answer: both have different strengths.

• 2.4 GHz = better range, slower speeds
• 5 GHz = faster speeds, shorter range

If you’re far from the router or connecting smart home devices, 2.4 GHz usually works better.

If you want higher speeds for streaming, gaming, or video calls, 5 GHz is usually the better option.
