As we gather with family, friends, and the people who mean the most, we want to take a moment to say THANK YOU. ❤️

We’re incredibly grateful for our amazing customers who continue to support our small business, trust us with their projects, and allow us to do what we love every day. From signs and wraps to decals and everything in between, we truly appreciate every opportunity to bring your ideas to life.

We’re also thankful for our Onyx team for the hard work, creativity, laughs, long days, and everything you do to keep things moving. We couldn’t do it without you!

From our family to yours, we hope your Thanksgiving is filled with good food, great company, lots of laughs, and maybe a little time to relax!

MEET THE ONYX TEAM — ERIKA

You may not see her at the shop, but if you follow Onyx Signs… chances are you’ve seen her work! 😉

Meet Erika Babineau — Content Creator & the person behind a lot of what you see on our social media! 📱✨

🛠️ What do I do at Onyx? I actually have a full-time job as an Executive Assistant with the federal government, but I work behind the scenes at Onyx Signs, taking care of our social media, creating content and helping showcase the amazing work the team does!

⭐ How long have I been with Onyx? Since the very beginning! ❤️ I’ve been dating the owner, Remi, since high school — yep, we’re high school sweethearts! 🥰 So I guess you could say I’ve been part of the Onyx family from day one!

🎣 What do I love doing outside of work? Spending time with friends and family, travelling the world, going on weekends road trips and finding those little hidden gems along the way. I’m a HUGE foodie, so I’m always on a mission to find somewhere new to try! 🍴I also love walking and doing little hikes, especially when there’s a waterfall involved. 🌿💦 And of course… SHOPPING! 🛍️😂

I also have a serious passion for home decorating. My mom and dad are currently building a house, and let’s just say… they can definitely attest to this one. Sorry mame p*s pape!!! -taste 😂🏠

And last but definitely NOT least… I’m a cat lady at heart! 🐱❤️ My fur babies are my life, and I have two beautiful boys, Onyx & Simba. They may not work at the shop, but they definitely run the household! 😂🐾

🍕 Favourite food? Pretty much EVERYTHING… except seafood! 🙅🏼‍♀️😂 But if I had to pick one favourite, it would have to be Indian food. 🌶️🍛

🎵 Favourite music/artist? Give me some good DJ-style music that gets everyone together and having the time of their lives! 🎶🪩
As for my favourite artist… Chris Brown. I know, I know! But I love his music, the way he sings and dances, and his whole style. Let’s just say… the man is fly. 🔥😏😂

☕ Something I’m known for at the shop: Being the person who is ALWAYS drinking coffee in the morning. Just ONE coffee every day… because I spent way too much money on my coffee machine, so now I need to prove to Remi that buying it was actually “necessary” and not just something I wanted. ☕🤣
Because there IS a difference between needing something and wanting something.
See… the point is… I’m proving I needed it. 🫪

Put on some good music and I’m probably going to be dancing somewhere — whether you asked me to or not!

⭐ THE STAR OF THE SHOW HAS ARRIVED! ⭐

You’ve met Chelsea, Mathieu and Remi but now it’s time to meet the employee who has been at Onyx Signs since DAY ONE…

Shop Dog, Customer Greeter, Employee Inspector & Professional Napper. 🐶😴

I spend most of my workday sleeping… so technically, I might not be the best employee. 😂 But thank God I’m cute! 🥰

🛠️ What do I do at the shop? My job is VERY important. I welcome customers when they come through the door. 🚪🐶 I follow all the employees around the shop to make sure they’re doing their jobs properly. 👀 And of course… I do A LOT of sleeping. 😴
Someone has to keep the couch warm!

⭐ How long have I been with Onyx? Oh, I was here before the open house! 😎
Since the shop is right beside my owners’ — aka my adoptive parents’ — house, I’ve basically been part of Onyx since Day 1. 🖤

🎣 What do I love doing outside of work?
FOOD. 🍖
SLEEP. 😴
And…
MORE FOOD. 😂🐾

🍕 Favourite food? Well… my parents only give me dog food. 🙄
But I’ve heard that human food is WAY better?! 👀😂 I’m willing to investigate this further if anyone wants to help me with my research. 🐶🍗

🎵 Favourite music/artist? Birds. 🐦
The sound of leaves. 🍂
And the wind. 🌬️
Basically, I’m a nature-loving guy. 🐾🌲

🚗 Something I’m known for at the shop: SLEEPING ON THE JOB. 😴😂
But honestly, I think I’ve earned it.
I’ve been working here since Day 1!

😂 Fun fact / personality quirk: I LOVE the delivery guys! 📦🐶❤️
Why?
Because most of them carry treats in their vehicles… and they’re always nice enough to share with me. And obviously, I’m always a GOOD BOY, so I deserve every single one. 😇🐾

MEET THE ONYX TEAM — REMI

And now… it’s the boss man’s turn! 😎
Meet Remi Petitpas — Owner of Onyx Signs.

🛠️ What do I do at the shop? I took my Graphic Design course, so most of the time you’ll find me sitting at my computer working on designs, projects and bringing ideas to life. 💻🎨 But… I cannot sit still for too long! 😂 So I also love tagging along with Mathieu, my helper and one of my best friends since we were little. Whether we’re working on installations or figuring things out at the shop, you’ll usually find us together getting the job done. 🤝

⭐ How long have I been with Onyx? Well… I am the owner, so I guess I’ve been here from the beginning! I decided to leave my full-time graphic design job and take a chance on starting my own company. I’ll be honest — starting a business during COVID probably wasn’t the timing most people would have recommended. 😅 But look at us now… I’m still here! 💪

🎣 What do I love doing outside of work?Spending time with my group of friends that I’ve known since I was young, and of course spending time with Erika, my other half. ❤️
When I’m not at the shop, you’ll probably find me outside somewhere — hunting moose and deer, fishing for bass in the Miramichi area, riding the side-by-side through the trails or hanging out at the camp. 🦌🎣🌲
Basically… if it involves being outdoors, I’m probably interested! 😂

🍕 Favourite food?
During the summer: LOBSTER ROLLS! 🦞
But give me some wild meat or fresh bass and I’m pretty happy too. 🎣🫎🦌

🎵 Favourite music/artist? I’m definitely an old soul. 😂
I love listening to old songs — the kind of songs that my parents probably weren’t even born when they came out! 🎶🤣

🚗 Something I’m known for at the shop: Apparently, I have a bit of a tendency to lose things around the shop. 😂
My keys… wallet… passwords… basically anything that I need at that exact moment.
If something is missing, there’s a pretty good chance I’m looking for it. 🤦‍♂️😂

🪩 Fun fact / personality quirk: I like to mop the floor at discos down south when I’ve had a little too much fun… or maybe something else. 😂🍺
Let’s just say… sometimes the dance floor becomes my cleaning station. 🧹🪩

At the end of the day, Onyx Signs started with a leap of faith, a love for graphic design and a whole lot of hard work. ❤️

What started as an idea during one of the strangest times in the world has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of.

Today, we honour the Survivors of Canada’s Residential School system, their families, and their communities. We remember the children who never returned home and recognize the lasting impacts that residential schools continue to have across generations.

September 30 is an opportunity to listen, learn, remember, and reflect on the ongoing journey toward truth, healing, and reconciliation.
🧡 Every Child Matters.

We encourage our Onyx Signs family, customers, friends, and community to wear orange today in remembrance of the children who never came home and in honour of Residential School Survivors and their families.

MEET THE ONYX TEAM — MATHIEU

Every shop needs that one person who can basically do a little bit of everything…
Meet Mathieu - Helper, problem-solver and Onyx’s unofficial Jack of All Trades! 🔧💪

🛠️ What do I do at Onyx?
Where do I even start?! 😂
I’m pretty much a jack of all trades. If Remi asks me to do it, there’s a pretty good chance I’ll figure it out! From wrapping and installations to cleaning the shop and vehicles, picking up deliveries on my way home… you name it, I’m probably doing it! 😂 Basically, if it needs to get done, I’m your guy. 💪

⭐ How long have I been with Onyx?
I wasn’t there from Day 1, but it wasn’t long after! 4 years later… here I am!

🎣 What do I love doing outside of work?
Spending time with my friends and my better half, Chelsea, who you might recognize from our previous Meet the Team post. ❤️
I’m also a big outdoors guy. You’ll find me hunting, fishing or out enjoying the trails.
And then there’s my Jeep. 🚙 I love taking it down dirt roads and exploring… and I probably spend way too much time cleaning it afterwards😂

🍕 Favourite food? QUESADILLAS. 🧀🌯

🎵 Favourite music/artist? Definitely country music🎵🤠

🚗 Something I’m known for at the shop:
Whenever my boss is looking for something, somehow Mathieu knows exactly where it is within seconds. 😂 Keys? Tools? Materials? Random thing Remi swears he just had five minutes ago? Ask Mathieu. 😂

At this point, he’s basically the shop’s human GPS! 📍🤣
Remi: “Mathieu, where’s…?”
Mathieu: “Right over there.” 👈😂
I don’t know how he does it, but he always seems to know where everything is!

😂 Fun fact / personality quirk: I’m a pretty quiet guy. But when I do speak up… it usually makes everyone laugh. 😂 Let’s just say I have a talent for the occasional perfectly timed one-liner.
I might not say much… But when I do, you better be ready. 😂

From installations to deliveries, cleaning to wrapping, Mathieu is one of those people who quietly keeps things moving behind the scenes.

Behind every busy shop is someone making sure the paperwork is done, the books are in order, and everyone stays somewhat in line… 😂
Meet Chelsea Leblanc — Office Administration & Accounting Clerk at Onyx Signs! 📋💻

🛠️ What do I do at Onyx? I take care of bookkeeping, administration and, apparently, keeping everyone in line! 😂
Someone has to make sure things stay organized around here… and let’s just say, I’m not afraid to keep the crew on track! 😉

⭐ How long have I been with Onyx? I’ve been part of the Onyx team for 2 years! 🖤

🎣 What do I love doing outside of work? When I’m not at the shop, you’ll usually find me cooking, fishing, kayaking or spending time with my partner. ❤️ Basically, if it involves being outdoors, good food or good company, I’m probably there! 🌊🎣🍳

🍕 Favourite food? Chinese food! 🥡🥢

🎵 Favourite music/artist? Country music! 🤠🎶

☕ Something I’m known for at the shop: I’m NOT a morning person. 😴
But don’t worry… once I’ve had my first coffee, you’re safe! ☕🤣

The wait is over! Bright and early in the morning, the moose hunt officially begins! 🫎🍂🌲

From all of us at Onyx Signs, we want to wish good luck to all the hunters heading out into the woods! We hope you have a safe, successful and memorable hunt.

Hunting is a big part of who we are at Onyx Signs! In fact, more than half of our team will be taking some time away this week to enjoy the hunt! For many of our team members, this is something they look forward to all year long and truly take pride in.

And don’t worry… Chelsea, our admin extraordinaire, will still be holding down the fort! 💻 So if you need us this week, she’ll be there to take care of you!
