“That which is not inspected deteriorates” — Dwight Eisenhower

He wasn’t talking about plant equipment. But the idea holds up. Every asset that isn’t tracked, monitored, or assessed is working its way toward failure, whether anyone’s watching or not.

That’s the gap between basic asset management and asset performance management. One waits for something to break. The other watches for the signs first.
