Most facilities know what good reliability looks like on paper.
The harder part is building the habits and discipline to make it happen every day.

We recently came across an article by Joe Kuhn, a former plant manager, engineer, and global reliability consultant, in which he shares 10 reliability practices that high-performing plants have in common. None of them is particularly flashy, but that’s the point. Reliability is usually built through consistent planning, accountability, problem-solving, and follow-through.

The list covers everything from morning meetings and maintenance planning to predictive maintenance and root cause analysis.

Who inspired you to pursue a career in engineering?

Most plants focus on improving wrench time, but one of the biggest sources of lost productivity often happens before the work even starts.

We’ve seen technicians spend valuable time tracking down equipment history, searching for inspection records, checking previous work orders, or trying to confirm the latest status of an asset.
