Payphones, those relics of the pre-cellphone era, may just get a new lease on life in New York. The city is testing a new pilot program in which it installs free Wi-Fi on select payphone kiosks. It is starting with ten kiosks in three boroughs.

You may have noticed that your default email address on your Facebook account has been switched to one .com. This little ninja move by Facebook has users fuming. Here's how to put your other email address back. On your profile page, click About. That will bring you to a screen where you should see Contact Info on the right side somewhere, find that and click Edit. Beside each of your email addresses you can choose to show in timeline or hide in timeline. Simply hide the facebook address and show the one you want!

Over the weekend, Shield staff installed a replacement server for a local business customer. It should have been a simple swap however the vendor installed OS failed to boot. Nice. No matter! We did a fresh install, removed all the unnecessary crap and got everything in order. Even though we weren't experts in the software they were using, we figured out how to get the server component working and upon a brief meeting this morning learned that the customer was extremely happy that a) we didn't have to interrupt his weekend with problems or questions and b) everything was working perfectly when they came in! Needless to say, he was very impressed. Word of mouth advertising is the way to go!

Today I visited a new client with the intention of doing an assessment of their current environment to see where Shield could help them. While onsite I identified a problem with their backup procedure. Their backups had been failing for 4 years!! I fixed this for them, no charge of course since I was really only there for an assessment. This is an example of how Shield is different. We go the extra mile and our clients appreciate it!
