A friendly reminder that support for Windows 10 fully ends in October this year.

For those who haven’t done so, you can still enroll in the extended program which will continue to provide security and patch updates, but once October rolls around, Windows 10 systems will be left exposed.

*PLEASE NOTE: your computer with Windows 10 will still continue to work past this time. What you will not receive are security updates, bug fixes, or technical support. This leaves systems vulnerable to viruses and spyware (having anti-virus on your computer is great, but it will not protect holes in the operating system code).

Unfortunately, the price of hardware components has skyrocketed recently. If you are looking to replace your computer with a new Windows 11 system, feel free to reach out for recommendations

For anyone running Windows 10 and whose computer will not upgrade to Windows 11, Microsoft has rolled out the Extended Security Update (ESU) enrollment option.

When you click the Settings gear wheel from the Start Menu, then click on Update & Security, you should see a screen similar to what is shown in the image below. Select the Enroll now link, and a wizard should appear which will walk through a few options and let you know if there is anything that needs to be done before extending the ability to receive operating system updates.

This is not a permanent solution, as the updates will eventually fully end, but it will allow you some time to replace your computer.
