What a whirlwind in Vancouver for RGD's DesignThinkers.

This year’s theme invited us to step away from the noise to log off, break a few rules, and trust your instincts. It was a reminder that some of the best ideas come when we give ourselves space to think.

We soaked up inspiring talks from awesome humans, got our hands dirty with workshops from friends, connected with fellow creatives through roundtables, and were especially proud to see our creative director take the stage and share her perspective.

A few days out of office, and we’re back in the studio with fresh eyes and a few new ideas already in motion.

From screen to lakeshore. 🌊

Here’s a little peek behind the curtain of what it actually takes to bring ’s Ignite fundraising gala to life. It starts in the studio: building moodboards, mapping out layouts, testing typography at a large scale, and shaping the experience digitally. Then things become much more hands-on, sourcing natural materials, dressing flower pots with fabric, and yes, even hosing down rocks to make sure every last detail feels right before the doors open.

It’s always a wild ride, but watching a story travel from idea to mockup to a physical space that people can walk through and genuinely feel? That never gets old. That translation is what keeps us passionate about our work day after day.

We’re grateful to get our hands dirty in support of such a meaningful cause. 🩵

Last week, we had the privilege of attending Ignite, Myra's Kids Foundation 's annual fundraising gala—an evening dedicated to supporting children and families navigating grief.

We supported Myra’s Kids through creative direction, design, and production management to help bring this heartfelt event to life.

This year’s event theme centred around the lantern ceremony, inspired by a key part of Myra’s Kids Foundation’s summer camp, where campers honour loved ones who have passed.

As guests entered, they were welcomed by banners featuring photos and quotes from campers—quiet, powerful reflections from the very ceremony that inspired the evening. Each guest was then invited to take part in a symbolic ceremony by writing the name of a loved one on a lantern and placing it along a dock, mirroring the experience the children share at camp.

Every detail was designed to create a moment of connection, reflection, and remembrance.

Ignite is Myra’s Kids’ largest fundraiser of the year, raising essential funds to ensure their year-round programs and camps can be offered to children and families free of charge.

A meaningful night, and an important one to be a part of. 🦋🩵

Oh hey 👋🏻

Behind every great studio is a team that genuinely loves what they do… and in our case, a dog who takes her job very seriously 🐾

Meet Elana, our Founder and Creative Director. The vision, the drive, and the reason this whole thing exists. Elana founded Design is Yummy on the belief that thoughtful design can make an impact, and she hasn’t stopped proving that since day one.

🎉 Fun fact: In elementary school, Elana was ranked 5th in Quebec in Logowriter.

Next is Pam, our Studio Manager and Graphic Designer. The person who keeps everything running smoothly and still somehow finds time to make things look beautiful. Pam is the backbone of the studio: organized, talented, and the one we’d all be completely lost without.

🎉 Fun fact: She started designing at 6, making greeting cards on Pokémon Project Studio.

After that is Jessica, our Graphic Designer and Illustrator. The creative mind behind the custom illustrations and designs that give our clients’ brands their own distinct personality. Jessica brings a warmth and craftsmanship to everything she touches that you just can’t fake.

🎉 Fun fact: She creates incredibly realistic digital paintings that look like photographs.

And last (but certainly not least) is our Productivity Manager, Abby. Abby joined the team under somewhat questionable credentials, but her references were glowing, and she works for treats, so here we are. 🐾

Her role includes: keeping morale high, alerting the team to any sounds outside, providing unsolicited but deeply appreciated emotional support, and warming the sunniest spot on the floor before anyone else gets to it.

🎉 Fun fact: Her favourite treat is yogurt!

We’re small, we’re mighty, and we’re so glad you’re here. Drop a 👋 in the comments and say hi, we’d love to meet you too.

This graphic started with a question: what does it look like when two worlds collide?

The poster is all about surprise. We knew we wanted to place the two sisters in a setting that nods to both their Amish roots and agriculture. From there, we layered in the unexpected.

Exaggerated expressions to heighten the comedy. A field of a very recognizable plant that feels over the top as it covers the rolling hills. A hazy, dreamlike city just out of reach. And a green so saturated that it ties everything together with a sense of energy and possibility. Framed inside a flower pot, the entire composition leans into the literal, just enough to make you look twice.

It’s a great example of letting concept lead form, then pushing that form until it feels as big-hearted and playful as the show itself.

Big swings, bold colour, and a story that refuses to stay small 🌱

For the Segal Centre’s Grow, we built a playful, eye-catching poster anchored by a flower pot-shaped frame. Inside, two Amish sisters sit at the heart of both the poster and play: one chasing adventure, the other cautiously along for the ride.

Lush fields of a very recognizable plant ground the story with a hazy city calling them from the background. The saturated green palette keeps everything feeling vibrant, energetic, and just a little rebellious. It’s a poster about growth in every sense: visual, emotional, and yes… “botanical.”

Elaris develops next-generation vaccine solutions, grounded in research, collaboration, and discovery. We created a brand identity inspired by the Y-form of an antibody, expressing precision, protection, and the building blocks of innovation.

Building on this foundation, we extended the identity into a one-page website designed with the same warmth and clarity.

Rounded forms, subtle motion, and a clean, intuitive structure create an experience that feels both precise and approachable, bringing a human touch to complex science.

Precision and innovation shine in our new brand identity for Elaris 🧬✨

As a vaccine development company grounded in research and innovation, Elaris needed a visual identity that felt scientific but not cold.

The inspiration is the unmistakable ‘Y’ shape of an antibody. Repeated in a circular form, the result shows unity, collaboration, and the continuous pursuit of discovery and serves as a reminder that breakthrough science doesn’t happen in isolation.

The wordmark is set in a clean, geometric typeface with rounded form striking a careful balance between modern and approachable.

The brand colour palette reinforces that same duality: grounded blues that signal trust and credibility, energized by vibrant accents that speak to innovation and momentum. Serious about science. Optimistic about the future.

Last week, we presented an engaging Lunch & Learn as part of a webinar series for the Cree Nation Government, focusing on something close to our hearts: making presentations that actually work for everyone. 💛

The Cree Nation Government oversees and supports a wide range of programs and services for Cree communities, with many departments sharing information across a variety of stakeholders. Presentations are an essential tool.

We dug into design basics, visual clarity, and accessibility (because it’s not enough for a deck to look nice if parts of your audience can’t fully engage with it). We shared practical tips on colour contrast, readable layouts, and clear structure— all small things that can make a huge difference in getting a message across.

Clarity on how to develop clear, accessible communication is something every team should have in their toolkit. We’re grateful to the The Grand Council of the Crees and Cynthia Taylor for the opportunity to share our perspective.
