🥸 What’s non-private data, anyway?

We use this term a lot to describe the data we use to build Receptivity, but it’s a bit of a weird term, right? Like isn’t all the data produced by your phone yours/private?

Not exactly!

The decisions you make on your phone, like visiting a site, using an app or making a purchase are “private”. Heavy air quotes here because let’s be honest, most websites and apps make that stuff public through their terms and conditions.

However, your phone also transmits a lot of data for websites that has nothing to do with you or your viewing history.

We use your phone’s gyroscope and accelerometer to know if you’re walking, lying down and if you’re holding your phone in your hand. We don’t know who you are, we don’t know where you are or your favourite ice cream flavour, but we know you’re paying attention.

That’s non-private data, and it’s the building blocks of Receptivity.
