Give AI and a designer the same brief:
Korean-inspired fried chicken, energetic, playful, franchise-ready—and both can generate something that looks like a brand.
But looking like a brand and building one are two different things.
The real Olivia’s brief meant understanding Montréal’s competitive fast-food market, defining a position the brand could own, expressing its Korean inspiration with personality, and creating a recognizable system that could grow from one restaurant into a franchise network.
Inspired by Korean aegyo, we built that thinking into the identity, brand guide, packaging, website, restaurant interiors, print, digital marketing and motion.
The result? 100+ franchise applications after the first branded restaurant opened, 12 new franchises in under three years, and First Prize at the 2021 Summit International Awards.
AI can respond to a prompt. A designer has to understand the market, audience, business and cultural context behind it.
Where do you draw the line between generating an image and building a brand?
↗️ Share if you think a brand is more than what it looks like.
