10 years ago, we wanted to do something different.
We recognized that great people were doing good work within non-profit organizations, but with budget limitations they did not have the funding to acquire essential communications equipment.
These organizations are an integral part of the fabric that make our communities feel protected and safer. These are the same organizations who in many cases are self-funded with raffles, bake sales, fundraiser BBQs and even calendar sales featuring their community’s finest!
KENWOOD CARES was created to provide a tailored radio communications equipment grant to volunteer organizations, supporting their missions by delivering essential tools while recognizing their critical community service.
Through the grant, we provide essential communication tools that help volunteers stay connected and focused on what matters most: delivering critical services and ensuring community safety. We partner with local KENWOOD dealers who know their communities best, to assist with configuring, delivering and installing the new equipment.
In our 10th year, the program has evolved from awarding one $10,000 grant per year, to now four $15,000 grants per year. Three grants to first time recipients, with a fourth grant to support past recipients to augment their fleet.
With this we are in the midst of awarding our 17th KENWOOD CARES grant (more details to come!). 17 organizations, in 8 provinces with $190,000 in communications equipment has been donated to date.
