📱⚠️ TECH TIP: THINK BEFORE YOU SCAN THAT QR CODE!
Wednesday, October 14, 2026

QR codes are everywhere these days! Restaurants, parking meters, advertisements, emails, and even packages use them to make accessing information easier.

But did you know scammers can use QR codes to trick you into visiting dangerous websites? 😱

This type of scam is sometimes called "quishing" (QR code phishing).

Here's how it can work:

📱 You scan a QR code that looks legitimate.
🌐 It takes you to a website that resembles a trusted business.
🔐 The website asks you to sign in or enter personal information.
💳 You unknowingly provide your information to a scammer!

And here's something particularly sneaky...

⚠️ Scammers sometimes place fraudulent QR code stickers over legitimate ones on signs or payment machines!

SO HOW CAN YOU PROTECT YOURSELF? 🛡️

✅ Check the website address before entering information.
✅ Be cautious of QR codes in unexpected emails or messages.
✅ Watch for stickers covering existing QR codes.
✅ Never enter passwords or payment information on suspicious websites.
✅ When in doubt, visit the company's official website directly.

Remember, scanning a QR code doesn't automatically mean your device has been compromised. The danger often comes from what happens after you follow the link.

A few seconds of caution could save you a major headache! 😊

Need help checking your computer for suspicious software or improving your online security?

⚡🎮 WILL A FASTER SSD GIVE YOU MORE FPS? — October 5, 2026
NVMe SSDs can be incredibly fast, but does upgrading to one actually make your games run at a higher frame rate? 🤔
Usually, not by much — and often not at all.
Your graphics card and processor do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to FPS. Where a fast SSD can make a noticeable difference is everything surrounding the gameplay:
⚡ Faster game loading
🗺️ Quicker level and map loads
💾 Faster installations and updates
🔄 Shorter loading screens
🚀 A much more responsive Windows experience
Modern games are also becoming increasingly demanding when it comes to storage speed, so having an SSD is becoming more important than it was during the days when mechanical hard drives were the norm.
But there's another thing to remember: not every NVMe SSD runs at the same speed.
Different drives and motherboards can support different generations of PCI Express, and installing an extremely fast new SSD into an older computer may mean the drive operates below its maximum advertised speed.
So don't upgrade based purely on the biggest number printed on the box. 😉
The right SSD depends on your computer, storage needs, games and budget.
Gigasoft Computers can help with SSD upgrades, game-drive expansion, data transfers and complete custom gaming PCs. 🔧💻

💾⚠️ TECH TIP: DON’T LET YOUR SSD GET COMPLETELY FULL! — September 23, 2026

Is your computer constantly warning you that you're running out of storage space? Don't ignore it! 😬

An SSD needs some free space for Windows, applications, updates, temporary files and normal drive operations. When your drive is packed almost completely full, you can start running into problems such as:

🐌 Reduced system performance
🔄 Windows updates failing
📥 Programs having trouble installing or updating
📁 Not enough room for temporary files
🎮 Game updates refusing to install
⚠️ General Windows headaches

And remember — having a 1 TB SSD doesn't mean you need to fill every last gigabyte!

Every so often, take a look at Settings → System → Storage in Windows. It can help you see what's consuming your space and identify things you may no longer need.

Before deleting anything important, though, make sure you have a backup! 💾☁️

If you're constantly fighting for storage space, it might be time for a larger SSD rather than endlessly deleting files.

Gigasoft Computers can help with SSD upgrades, storage expansion, data transfers and figuring out what's eating all your drive space. 🔧💻

💻🔄 TECH TIP: RESTARTING YOUR PC CAN ACTUALLY FIX THINGS! — September 16, 2026

We've all heard the classic tech-support question: “Have you tried restarting it?” 😁

There's actually a good reason for it!

Restarting your computer clears the current Windows session and reloads Windows, drivers and background services. That can resolve temporary problems caused by a program, driver or service that isn't behaving properly.

And here's something many people don't realize:

⚡ On Windows, Shut Down and Restart aren't always exactly the same thing.

With Windows Fast Startup enabled, shutting down can preserve some system information to help the computer start faster the next time you turn it on.

🔄 Restart, however, performs a more complete reload of Windows.

So if you're experiencing:

🐌 Unusual slowdowns
🔊 Audio problems
🌐 Network issues
🖨️ Printer problems
💻 Programs behaving strangely
🔌 USB devices suddenly not working properly

Try a Restart before spending an hour troubleshooting!

It won't fix every computer problem, of course, but you'd be surprised how often this simple step works. 😉

And if restarting doesn't solve it, Gigasoft Computers is here to help. 🔧

🎮 CPU OR GPU — WHAT’S ACTUALLY HOLDING YOUR GAMING PC BACK? — September 14, 2026

Thinking about upgrading your gaming PC? Before automatically buying a faster graphics card, it helps to know what component is actually limiting your performance. 💻🔧

You may have heard the term “bottleneck.” It simply means one component is limiting how quickly the rest of the system can complete a particular workload.

🎨 GPU-limited: Your graphics card is doing most of the work. This is common when gaming at higher resolutions or using demanding graphics settings.

🧠 CPU-limited: Your processor can’t prepare frames or handle game calculations quickly enough to fully utilize the graphics card. This can happen in CPU-heavy games or when targeting very high frame rates.

And here's the important part: every gaming PC will have a limiting component somewhere. The goal isn't to somehow build a computer with zero bottlenecks — it's to build a balanced system for the games, resolution and performance you're targeting.

For example, pairing an extremely powerful graphics card with a much older processor might not deliver the improvement you were expecting.

Before spending money on an upgrade, figure out where your current system is actually struggling. Sometimes the best gaming upgrade isn't the component you originally expected! 🎯

Need help figuring out what to upgrade next? Gigasoft Computers can help with gaming PC upgrades and complete custom builds.
