Hello,

It is Tuesday December 28th. We were just made aware that some people have received text messages saying that they owe money to us. Never follow a link from a text message to pay a bill. This is a common way for scams to occur. It's called "phishing".

If you are unsure about the status of your account, you can log in via our web portal at portal.pioneerwireless.ca to find out, or give us a call once we're back in the office in January.

Thank you,

The team at Pioneer Wireless.

Hello,

It is currently Monday November 15th. We are aware of current internet issues. Some websites appear to not be accessible. Performing a simple traceroute shows that it appears to be routing on the Bell network past Montreal that is having a problem, and so any website located past that point may be inaccessible until Bell fixes their issue.

Thank you for your understanding,

The team at PioneerWireless

Hello,

It is currently 11:34 am on Wednesday, October 6th. Over the past 24 hours a small handful of power events have caused various parts of the network to flicker briefly. These are parts of the network that are currently battery protected and should not be affected by power events of such short duration. We will be doing testing after 4pm to discover the cause and hopefully we'll be able to fix it quickly to prevent future disruptions in the work day. Small flickers (a couple of seconds) may occur throughout the network at that time.

Thank you,

The team at Pioneer Wireless

Hello everyone,

This weekend, on Saturday September 25th, we will be decommissioning one of our Dunrobin Heights towers due to it no longer being safe. Once taken down, we will be putting up a new tower in its place, taller than the previous one, which will improve service to the area. Most people who will be affected will be between Larne Lane and Ridgetop Road, inclusively, as well as parts of Kilkenny Drive. Other people in the area may also be affected. Customers should expect an outage lasting potentially most of the work day.

We will also be working on one of our access points near 5th Concession in Quyon. We will be installing a tower at the silo so we can reach much higher than we currently can. This will provide much better signal to the people connected to it, on both sides of the river. This is just a tower build and should not cause any outages. Moving from our current setup to the new tower will happen on a different day.

Thank you,

The team at Pioneer Wireless.

Hello everyone,

It is 1:34 pm on Monday, September 13th. We've determined that one of the latest firmware versions published by the company that produces most of our radios has a bug in it that has been affecting many of our clients. It has a tendency to randomly lock up and reboot. This may have been causing issues for a number of people in the past month. Having discovered this, we will be replacing the firmware of many radios this and the next few evenings. You may experience temporary outages lasting hopefully no more than 5 minutes each between 4pm and 6pm today, and some more happening late night around midnight today and the next few days. If your Internet goes out around 12am to 1am, please do not reboot your radio. It is very likely going to be a firmware update. If the outage lasts longer than 10 minutes or if it's past 2am, then you can reboot it and there shouldn't be any problems.

Thank you,

The team at Pioneer Wireless.

Hello everyone,

It is currently 4:40pm, Monday August 23rd. We received the replacement radios and are going to be installing them shortly. There will be service disruptions to a large part of our network heading up to Shawville, Portage-du-Fort and Chenaux. Ideally these will last for no more than two minutes at a time, but they may occur multiple times over the next couple of hours. We may not be able to complete the project this evening and may need to complete it tomorrow. We will edit this post if it's expected to run into tomorrow.

Thank you,

The team at Pioneer Wireless

Edit: Disruptions for the evening should be completed. Unfortunately the radio was on channel with another of our links and shut it down, something we hadn't planned on. The radios are in place and we will be figuring out what we can do over the next day or two to correct this situation and hopefully get this up and working.

Hello everyone,

This is to inform you that we have identified a bottleneck in our network bringing service up from Luskville all the way through to Portage-du-Fort.

We are in the process of moving part of the backhaul onto a new tower, which should increase reliability and throughput. Over the next few days we'll be receiving new point-to-point radios to further increase the throughput and stability of that connection.

The majority of infrastructure work will be completed after 4pm so as not to interfere with workplace telecommuting, and of course we will do it as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Thank you,

The team at Pioneer Wireless

Edit: We are aware of possible slowdowns this evening, one of the radios stopped working when we moved it to the new tower. Bad news/good news, it's one that was slated to be replaced with incoming order and so hopefully the situation will improve soon. In the meantime, we're adding capacity as we can but there are only so many smaller radios we can strap to the side of a tower. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
