Good day everyone. I tried to post something last night but it got deleted. So here I go again haha.

As most of you already know and I have mentioned a couple posts to go I believe that I was ranting about the consumer Choice Award that I had won and that of course they wanted money for the award. Well it turns out that they have finally posted the 2026 winners on their website and guess who's not on there? That's right the PC repair guy even though I had one the award. And I even have proof of it hanging on my wall in my shop. But since I didn't give them any money they refuse to add me to their website.

Now upon doing my research I noticed that there was an investigation launched on them I believe back in 2012 or 2014 that pretty much anybody can get these Awards with the right amount of money up to $4,000. This investigation was done by CBC and I can't post a link because if I do it automatically deletes my whole post and that's what happened to me last night. But basically they mentioned that they're just a company wanting your money and would be willing to give anybody an award for the money so you have to be careful out there even if they have a sticker on their wall and that just goes to show that they paid a large sum of money to get that sticker so it doesn't mean that that business deserved it or not so be careful.

Am I upset? You're damn right I am I work hard all the time and when an award like this comes along since they've been around for a while and they give it to you you shouldn't have to pay for it but whatever I know my business is good I work hard I always give the best deals the best service no scanning or Shady work at The PC Repair Guy!

Thanks again everyone for your continued support and keeping my small business alive and proving that you don't need to go to these big box stores as most of them don't even have the experience anyways.

Afternoon everyone! Remember a couple posts back when I mentioned that I won the consumer Choice Award for 2026? Heck I even have the proof!!. Well they just relsased the winners of 2026 finally https://www.ccaward.com/award-winners/london-greater-region/ and guess who's name is not on the list? All because I wouldnt pay for there Award and there ridiculous monthly fees!! What a load of crock! They don't even have a listing for my category either. Guess no one will give out an award nowadays unless you pay for it, that's pretty sad! Anyways! You still want the best service and prices in town? Then message The PC Repair Guy where you won't get scammed or takin advantage of ever!!

*Update*

Apparently the consumer Choice awards was under investigation in 2014 saying the exact same thing i have been saying about having to pay a large amount of money!

Here's a sweet build I just did for a customer a couple days ago would have posted sooner but sometimes I just get too busy and then I forget haha. This gentleman was looking for basically an Asus Pro art build which turned out pretty nice it was my first time building in this case and hopefully my last haha as I didn't really like the case design.

So I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before in our previous post or not but it's always good to get the information out to people who own a laptop or a desktop with an HP printer. Now recently I would say probably within the past 3 to 5 months I have had probably four or five customers that have come to me because of a scam running through HP support. How it works is even if you call the legit HP support line you will most likely talk to a legit support representative that will try and guide you through any issues you may have with your HP printer but eventually they will give up and what they will do is either they will transfer you to their technical support team or they will tell you you will get a phone call back in the next couple of minutes from their tech support team. Then once they get a hold of you they will have you either install the program or of course click on a link so they can take control of your computer. At first it will seem as if they're trying to help but then what they will do is they will claim that you have a virus or something wrong with your computer and they'll put up a fake screen saying look at all these things that are wrong and they will try and sell you a service package which I've been told is about $300 and would come to around 400 Canadian and that they will fix your problem and support you for one year. Now of course you all know this is a load of crock and it's a huge scam but recently I have had a customer fall victim to this scam so I thought I would get the word out to everybody on here to pass it on to their friends and family. My advice is do not call HP support at all for any reason as I believe they have some people working on the inside in their call center and transferring over to the scammers and possibly making some kind of commission or whatever. Your best bet is to either call somebody you know that can help you with your printer problem or of course call your local IT Guy. As always never trust anybody to take control of your computer unless it's a family member a close friend or a local computer technician that you know is located in town. I say this all the time but these scammers are of course getting more and more clever with their BS so when somebody asks you for money over the phone maybe you should hang up and think about it or ask a friend and tell him your situation and maybe they might know that it's a scam or not.

What do you think of this transformation? Customer needed an upgrade from the old silver Tower and needed a new graphics card as well but in the long run they also needed a new power supply and a new tower to go with it for better future upgrades. I also encouraged the new CPU Cooler as they have the old stock one on there which wasn't really a good fit for this build. But turned out looking really cool.

Good day everyone I hope everyone is doing well. I just want to go on a little rant here haha. As you know not too long ago I posted that I have won the consumer Choice Award for 2026. It's a great reward and an honor of course but what most people don't know is that it's pretty much a money grab for them. So at first I was in contact with the territorial manager for the consumer Choice Award and of course he tried to sell me on a advertising package and of course I politely refused.

Now just a couple of days ago the vice president of the consumer Choice Award had messaged me and wanted to congratulate me again and blah blah blah and wanted to talk to me as well about their packages and what they can do for my business Etc. Then that's when I kind of got a little upset with them and said to him " whatever happened to giving awards and honoring businesses that are hard-working and do great work for the community?" You know what his reply was? Absolutely nothing he just went on with his spiel about packages and then eventually he told me about their monthly plan and this is what it said.

"Our programs start at $167- $399 per month (12-month term), with multiple levels available. Benefits may include:"

So again I was pretty upset and basically all these guys want of course is to make money off of you for your hard work and excellence in your community while they sit on their butt. Sure they do advertising and stuff for you but why would I want to pay that much each month when I can do my own advertising for way cheaper. Now of course with me denying their services they're not going to send me any plaque or stickers or anything that I have earned and all I have is the small certificate that was given to me in the mail to show that I have been chosen as the 2026 consumer Choice Award for a computer repair. So to end this nice rant to me I think it's pretty disgusting and I don't believe that's the way it should be. I did mention I would pay for the plaque because sure why not right but I would not pay for their services as I do not need them.

So next time you see a consumer Choice Award sticker placid on someone's business you know they paid a lot of money for that and that they're basically being scammed in my opinion. But what about your thoughts what do all of you guys think?

Here's a pretty sweet job that I had to do the other day. Customer brought in a new motherboard, processor and RAM to replace his old stuff in this case. This is the finished product in the pic as I didn't take the before pics as I forgot either way turned out really cool I like the look graphics card could be a different color but that's just my opinion haha

This one not a very exciting one to do is an Alienware laptop. Not everyone's favorite laptop that's for sure but this model is not that bad compared to the older models as they were more difficult to take apart. This customer just needed fan replacement as they are well known to fail quite a bit in AlienWares. So I just decided to replace both the fans test it out and off it went.

Just finish another build today well it's almost finished I'm waiting for the storage drive to arrive but instead of waiting around doing nothing I built the entire system. I love the look of this build just the all black with a little bit of color on the graphics card and it's super quiet and I'm sure my customers going to love this as much as I do. I didn't take as many pictures this round as I was too focused on doing what had to be done like cable management and proper placement haha

All right the build is complete it turned out really well I'm not a fan of white myself but I don't mind the white and black look. But it's all set up and ready to go 😁

Well it looks like it's going to be a pretty cold weekend with lots of snow it seems. Hopefully we don't get it to bad. Anyways happy Friday it looks like I will be doing a computer build today once the parts show up and I will be posting some pics as I work through the build so stay tuned for that 😁
