That’s exactly what Netflix did — and everyone lost their minds!!

All the threats came out:

“I’m cancelling.”
“I’m outta here.”
“Bye Netflix!”

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱?
While everyone was squealing and complaining, that dramatic Netflix noise turned into…
💥 6 million new subscribers.
The following quarter? 8.8 million more.
The highest sign-up rate in four years.

All from ending the world’s biggest free ride.

I can only imagine the tough boardroom moments — probably a divided room.
Some in favor. Some terrified.
Fearful of a mass exodus.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗻𝗼-𝗯𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵:
You can’t grow if you’re too afraid to charge what you’re worth.

and ending up with a $699 clip that overheats faster than your morning coffee.

Meet the Humane AI Pin — the futuristic little gadget you were supposed to wear on your shirt, talk to like an AI assistant, and have it beam your texts and info onto your palm like Tony Stark.

𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱, 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁?
Until… reality checked in.

Battery life? Terrible.
Performance? Laggy.
Laser projection? Couldn’t see it half the time.
Monthly fee? $24 — on top of the $699 you already paid.

People bought it… then returned it faster than they unboxed it.
Within months, sales tanked, returns outpaced shipments, and the company finally hit the off switch — bricking every device they’d ever sold.

All that hype… gone.

𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱?
I’ll tell you what happened…

Your first mistake was thinking you could replace the iPhone.

Think about it — Steve Jobs’ iPhone wasn’t just a phone.
It became a calculator, content-consuming, music-jamming, candy-crushing, headshot-shooting, cinematic film-making device.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝘆 𝗸𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗴𝗲.
And you thought a lapel pin was gonna take that crown?

You’d have been better off saying, “This pairs with your phone,” and calling it a companion device.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱:
You needed to fire your focus group recruiter —
after firing your QA testers,
and the entire dev department.

If the laggy, overheating software wasn’t the boat anchor,
you went and slapped a monthly fee on top of zero value.

Someone should’ve pulled the plug before filling the bath.
Instead, they poured in lavender, lit a candle,
and everyone just went to sleep.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻?
Unless your slingshot skills are murderously on point,
don’t proclaim you can slay Goliath.

𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳:
Is this technology ready?
How bloody is the bleeding edge we’re building on?

Then slap on a few band-aids and figure out why it’s bleeding in the first place.

You know what’s badass?
𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀.

Seriously — for years, everyone stole Photoshop. Students, designers, agencies. Didn’t matter. They were bleeding millions in lost sales (some analysts pegged piracy at over 80% of users).

So how did they flip that?
How did they turn disrespecting, freeloading pirates into loyal, paying customers?

𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲… 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱.

Put something in a box and it can be copied.
Put it in the cloud — now you need a password.

But Adobe didn’t stop there. They moved everything — fonts, filters, assets, updates — into that cloud. You could copy the software, sure… but without its heartbeat, it was dead on arrival.

𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

And let’s be real — they fixed a problem they created. Not everyone had $900 sitting around for Photoshop. Something had to change.

That change turned a $4 billion company into a $19 billion one… with a market cap north of $200 billion today.

All because they realized that $49 a month with freedom to pause or cancel beats $999 once with a guilty conscience.

So ask yourself:
🤔 What’s the “enemy” in your business?
🤔 Where’s the leakage, the loophole, the blind spot?

There’s a fix waiting for you to find it.
