Young adults hitting their 20's right now are the first generation that was raised to be "comics literate" from infancy. Scholastic's infiltration of school libraries, and educator's emphasis on graphic novels as legitimate reading material has led to unprecedented access to comics for an entire generational cohort.

These kids grow up reading Dog Man, The Babysitter's Club, Teeth, Amulet and Bone alongside other contemporary literature and as a result they don't see a difference between comics and prose.

However, after getting "Scholastic Book Fairs" dropped in their laps as pre-teens, comics become harder to find in their teenaged years and they have to seek them out.

As young adults, these "Dog Men and Babysitters" are finding comic shops, and rediscovering comics in a way no generation has since the 90's.

How has the Dog Man generation changed what publishers are putting out? Is this generation responsible for the resurgence in comic shops? How do we make sure we don't lose this group? What can we do to find them sooner?

Say Hello to Max!

Ordo's got a brand new Sidekick. Max has been working with us for a few years now, mainly maintaining our data, and doing weekly data clean ups.

Last week he officially came on board asthe "Manage Comics Sidekick"! He's been getting up to speed responding to tickets, rewriting our help desk, and generally making life easier for everyone involved with Manage Comics!

We'll be talking about all of this at length very soon as we schedule our first Meanwhile at Manage Comics in a very long time!
