Happy Thanksgiving to the small communities across Saskatchewan. 🍂

Today is about the people who make each community feel like home.
Community is found in the people around us. It grows through the time we share and the care we show one another.

There is much to be thankful for in the communities we call home.

Too many open tabs can slow down your device. 🤯

Open browser tabs can continue using your device’s memory in the background. The demand may increase when several tabs contain videos, music or other active content.

If your device feels slow, try these quick steps:
1️⃣ Close tabs you no longer need
2️⃣ Restart the browser
3️⃣ Load the same website again
4️⃣ Check if the device responds faster

A lagging browser doesn’t always mean your internet connection is slow. Device performance and internet performance are ✌️ different things.

Closing unused tabs gives your device more resources for the pages you still need. Testing the browser again can help identify where the slowdown begins.

Get your new device online without the hassle. 📱

Setting up a new phone, tablet, computer or smart TV shouldn’t feel complicated. The screens and menu names may look different from one device to the next. Still, each device connects to your home WiFi in much the same way.

It shouldn’t be this:
❌ Guessing which network belongs to your home
❌ Entering the password over and over
❌ Wondering if the device connected properly

It should be this:
✅ Your WiFi details are ready before you begin
✅ The setup process feels clear and manageable
✅ Your device is connected and ready to use

A little preparation can make set-up easier. Keep your network name and password nearby before you begin.

A tough trail race deserves a strong local connection. 🌾

This year marked the Beaver Flat 50’s 10th anniversary. Runners, volunteers and organizers brought plenty of energy to a course known for being anything but flat.

We were proud to provide complimentary WiFi for the 2026 race at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park last month. The connection helped support the people working behind the scenes to keep race day moving.

Supporting events like the Beaver Flat 50 keeps us connected to the communities we serve. It is another way we can contribute beyond our everyday work.

Have a local initiative or event you would like us to support? Call (306) 992-5516 or send us a message. 📲

Strong communities are worth showing up for. 🏃

Your phone may switch networks without warning. ⚠️

Many phones use mobile data when WiFi becomes weak or unavailable. This can happen automatically based on your device settings. You may not notice because your phone remains connected to the internet.

Check these items when the switch seems unexpected:
1️⃣ Look for the WiFi icon
2️⃣ Confirm the selected network
3️⃣ Review the mobile data settings
4️⃣ Consider the distance from the router

Setting names vary across phone models. Start by checking the connection indicator on your screen. It can tell you whether your phone is using WiFi or mobile data.

The clock can help explain an internet problem. ⏰

Support asks when an issue began because timing can narrow down the possibilities. Even an approximate time can help connect the issue to a recent power flicker, device update or equipment change.

Try to have this information ready:
1️⃣ The approximate starting time
2️⃣ The devices experiencing the problem
3️⃣ If the issue comes and goes
4️⃣ Any recent equipment or device changes

A short timeline gives support useful details to work with. It can help identify patterns and reduce repeated troubleshooting steps.

Today, we take time to listen.

Wood River Internet serves communities in Treaty 4, Treaty 6 and Treaty 10 territories. These lands are the traditional territories of Indigenous Peoples.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the children who never returned home. We also honour Survivors, their families and communities affected by residential schools.

This day calls us to learn from our shared history. That learning asks us to approach one another with care.

The work continues beyond September 30. 🧡

A stronger WiFi signal can help you stay connected in more parts of your home. 📶

An extender carries WiFi into areas with weaker coverage. Where you place it and the layout of your home can affect the coverage you get. The extender also depends on the connection it receives.

It won’t increase the speed included in your plan. The right option depends on where coverage is weak and what equipment you already have.

Wondering what fits your home? Call (306) 992-5516 or visit: https://wrinternet.com/support/

Better coverage starts with the right option for your home. 🏡

Your connection covers more ground than the room around you. 📶

Many Wood River connections begin at a tower serving the area. Outdoor equipment receives the signal at the customer’s property.

The connection then travels indoors to the router. WiFi carries it from there to connected devices.

Each part has a separate role. Following the path helps separate internet service from home WiFi.
