Well, that depends. Do you care more about the result or the process?

Do you believe in the romantic notion of the starving artist, painstakingly perfecting every little detail? Or would you rather have a streamlined process that gets the job done?

Here’s how I see it.

🎸 You’re writing a song. Not recording the final album.

That drum track you’re putting together isn’t necessarily going on the finished record. It’s an audio memo. Something you take to your bandmates so everyone can hear what you’ve got in mind.

The drummer might change the beat. The bassist might suggest a different arrangement. The whole band puts their fingerprints on it.

So why spend three hours programming and polishing “final drums” for a song that isn’t even finished?

💀 THE SADDEST COMMENT I’VE RECEIVED ABOUT LOUDSTAKK…

It wasn’t “you suck ass” or “you have no idea what you’re doing.”

Those I can live with. 😂

It was something that was almost certainly meant as a compliment:

💬 “I loved what you did with Ugritone! I have all the old Packs, so I don’t really need the new ones. Keep up the good work!”

And I get it. I genuinely appreciate that people still enjoy the work I did back then.

But imagine telling Glenn Danzig:

“Man, I loved the Misfits! Cool that you’ve got this new Danzig band, but I’ve already got all the old records, so I won’t be buying your new albums or coming to your shows. Keep up the good work!” 😂

See the problem?

Loudstakk isn’t Ugritone with a different logo. It’s what I’ve been building since, with new ideas, new instruments, new recordings and everything I’ve learned along the way.

The old stuff still existing doesn’t make the new stuff redundant.

And this goes well beyond Loudstakk.

We all have artists, bands and independent brands whose older work we love. But if we want them to keep making things, somebody has to support what they’re doing TODAY.

Otherwise, eventually, your favorite brands disappear.

Not because they ran out of ideas.

Because nostalgia doesn’t pay the bills.
