I’ve been home for a week now, and as everything settles in, I’m feeling incredibly grateful for my recent trip to Kenya with Developing World Connections. I am Jen from Fresh, and over the past 15 years I’ve had the privilege of joining several DWC projects. This one was especially meaningful because I was able to share it with my partner, Travis.
We spent our time in the small community of Naro Muru, helping finish a local school, building furniture, painting, and installing an E-Lab with 20 computers generously donated by Lenovo. This will be the first E-Lab outside of Nairobi, and seeing the students’ excitement was something I will never forget. Because the community doesn’t have electricity, a solar system was installed to power the computers, along with a secure space to keep them safe. The smiles in the photos say everything.
If you’ve ever considered doing a trip like this, I can’t recommend it enough. The sense of connection, the teamwork, and the unforgettable moments remind me every time why these experiences matter. They reset my perspective and leave me feeling thankful, grounded, and inspired. I hope you enjoy some of the video and images.
