Cory Creature

Cory Creature Mixed Media Artist, Graphic Designer, & Picture Framer based out of Hamilton ON I believe images can create that same effect.

I am Mixed Media Artist who primarily works with paints and collaged imagery over various substrates. I will start a painting by creating an abstract and then finding images in that abstract using pareidolia where I take the images hidden in that abstract and bring them forth. This results in figures overlaying each other, creating both one figure and multiples simultaneously. I'm fascinated by language, and the concept of polysemy, which is the way in which a word or phrase can hold multiple related meanings. Using different mediums, substrates, and finishes, I push that idea of polysemy as far as it can go. People will often tell me they continue to find more and more images in my work the longer they look at it. That is exactly what I’m trying to achieve by exploring this concept. We live in a world where people have shorter and shorter attention spans, if I can extend that attention with my art even just by a moment I’ve done my job correctly.

Mixed media on layered laser cut plywood

This is an experiment I put together with my new laser engraver. I designed a multi layered art piece to be stacked to create a funky little deep sea creature.

Invasion!

I've been working on this piece for a little bit now. It ended up getting worked on quite fast because I adapted it to submit to a mix media exhibition 🤞 this painting I painted on Masonite and then created a floating frame for it. I continued the painting over every edge of inside the frame continuing it all the way to the top edge of the outer frame. I also used a scrap piece of picture framing acrylic that I used as a palette and smashed it so I could make it look like an explosion.

I got a xtool M2 to work with my graphic design and mixed media works. Here's a few things I've been experimenting with!...
