Welcome to the Broadening Participation in Data Mining Group. Our primary aim is to foster mentorship, guidance, and connections of minority and underrepresented groups in Data Mining, while also enriching technical aptitude and exposure. We provide venues in which to encourage students from such groups to connect with junior and senior researchers in industry, academia, and government. We hope to

create and help grow meaningful lasting connections between researchers, thereby strengthening the Data Mining Community.

The Broadening Participation in Data Mining Program (BPDM) will hold it's annual workshop at Howard University located in Washington D.C. from January 30 to February 2, 2019. As in previous editions, it is an excellent opportunity to learn and network with researchers and data scientists from academia, industry and government.

Undergraduates, Graduates, and Postdocs from underrepresented groups in Data Mining are encouraged to apply for travel scholarships by December 10, 2018 at https://goo.gl/forms/yRKrv0dmFusDEBoc2 Scholarships cover varying levels of travel expenses. Scholarship winners will be notified shortly after applications close.

This year, travel scholarships and speakers/mentors are provided by Google, iAAMCS, CRA-W, Capital One, and DO-IT: AccessComputing.
