🍄BIG ANNOUNCEMENT🍄 After almost a year of delays, paper shortages, and just being busy as all hell, I’m thrilled to announce that the next print in the Wildlife of Nova Scotia series: FUNGI, plus a full restock of the rest of the series (Mammals, Birds, Ocean Life, and Flora) will be available ***𝗡𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥 𝟮𝟮*** I am also happy to announce that starting now, $1 from every poster sold will be donated to to help save the lives of the very critters featured in this print series.

Tomorrow at 12 NOON Atlantic a PRESALE will begin on my online shop. Individual copies of the Fungi print will be available to complete your set. Or if you’re starting fresh you can save a few bucks and buy a bundle of all 5! Or any mix of individuals of course. Fair warning though, once the pre-order is over, on November 22, I’ll be increasing the price of these prints a bit to counteract rising costs. I hate doing that. I got into printmaking because I love the accessibility and affordability of it. I love that prints can be framed in a gallery or tacked up on a dorm room wall. But I’m sure you’re no stranger to the costs increasing across the board. And I at least wanted to give a bit of notice for those of us on a budget this holiday season.

𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒐𝒗𝒂 𝑺𝒄𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒂: 𝑭𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒊 features 28 illustrations of various species of fungi found within Nova Scotia. Some of the species depicted are common to your backyard, some are rarely found gems of the forest! Some are culinary delicacies, some are deadly poisonous! This decorative guide will hopefully have you looking down at your feet on your next walk outside, and encourage you to explore the beautiful world of fungi and how they fit into our environment.

Well, unfortunately COVID has caused another Avett Brothers show that I did a poster for to be rescheduled! I hope they’re doing well and wish them a speedy recovery. But on the brighter side, the bands team is kindly allowing these posters to still go out into the world. A collectable of the show that show that never was! Anyway, here’s all the details I drafted before I found out the news:

Another west coast show means more beautiful mountains and coniferous forests! This time I got to draw for tonight’s show in Washington. It’s been fun drawing so much for them lately. Rather than doing something in a specific style, I’m kinda finding old printed matter to reference and almost parody in a way. This time it was the retro souvenir tablecloths/tea towels that feature landmarks and icons of a particular state/country. These posters will be for sale on my site tomorrow. As always, at 12 noon local time of the show, that’s PDT!

The results are in!!! The grand prize winners of the Fundraiser Raffle is…. Jane Biekens! The three winners taking home slightly less exciting but still cool bundles of Midnight Oil goodies are Miriam R Breslow, Krysia Corgolewska, and Ashleigh Johnson! Congrats everyone! And thank you so so so so much for the support. I was amazed with how far this spread. Every share, every ticket purchased, every item donated is greatly appreciated by myself and the family.

I'm STOKED to say I finally got to work for
my Grammy-winning, chart-topping hit-making doppelgänger (seriously, have you ever seen me and him in the same room before? think about it), 🐆 A equally as fun but less flashy part of the job is working on posters for shows in new cities. In researching Ridgefield, Washington state, and the PNW in general, I was of course drawn to the nature as I always am, but I kept coming back specifically to Mount Saint Helens. I'm so far away from it, so it's not exactly the kinda thing that we hear much about in the Maritimes. I drew this ode to the mountain and the land surrounding it before it's massive eruption in 1980. I'm also very envious they have mountain lions out there! They're somewhat of a legend here, thought to be extinct... but that's a fascinating conversation for another day. I'll be selling my artist copies tomorrow, Saturday June 4th at 12 noon Ridgefield, WA time, PDT. Midnight Oil is hosting a raffle, raising funds for a Ukrainian family of 4 seeking refuge in Nova Scotia, being hosted in a member of my family's home.

Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25 and are available on my web store, https://shop.midnight-oil.ca/

The raffle will close at 11:59:59pm June 9, and the draw will take place at 12 noon the following day. . One grand prize winner will be randomly chosen, and 3 secondary prize winners. The grand prize contains the following:

I’ve received a lot of messages asking if I have copies of my posters for sale. At first I pulled them from my store, but after much thought I decided I don’t want to deny people the opportunity to honour him with some artwork for their homes. All proceeds from sales of my John Prine posters will be donated to three non-profits in Nashville suggested by his family: Thistle Farms, Room In The Inn, and Nashville Rescue Mission. Here’s my poster for tonight’s show in Evansville, Indiana. Fun fact, when birds are flying in a large flock and the flock has that beautiful lava lamp blob like movement, it’s called murmuration.
