Another successful day at the 6th International ITASCA Symposium!

Attendees took part in presentations during our morning sessions, gained valuable insight into our FLAC3D software with Cinthia Maldonado Cabeza de Vaca, and engaged in an open session discussion on ITASCA's family of numerical modeling software with Jim Hazzard

DAY 2 of the 6th International ITASCA Symposium on Applied Numerical Modeling was a great success! Attendees enjoyed another full round of presentations, concluding with an evening Award Ceremony and Dinner on the world-renowned Observation Level & 360 Rotating Restaurant of the CN Tower / Tour CN.

Dr. Peter Cundall presented Martin Schöpfer with the prestigious Peter A. Cundall Award for his team's extended abstract, "Rigid Body Spring Network Models of Drilling-induced Tensile Fractures" (Martin Schöpfer, Mario Habermüller, nicola levi, PhD, and Kurt Decker).

Honorable mentions were also presented for the extended abstracts “Analyzing the Effect of Continuous Miner Parameters on Fine Particle Generation: A Case Study in a Salt Mine” by Behzad Mehrgini and Kamran Esmaeili, and “Application of the CWFS method in FLAC2D to model brittle failure around the Qirehataer Diversion tunnel” by Fernando Gómez, Andrew Corkum, and Navid Bahrani.
