Our new case study with Minerals is live!

At the Lalor mine in Snow Lake, Manitoba, pre-ops, inspections, field-level risk assessments and audits used to be done on paper. Supervisors travelled to underground refuges or surface workstations to collect forms, and much of that information ended up filed away in binders.

The case study follows how Lalor moved that work into the field with Sofvie. In the first year, the site logged 47,952 digital submissions, including 19,979 field-level risk assessments and 17,444 pre-operational checks. Actions now go straight to the person responsible, superintendents review audits in one view, and form data is being used as leading indicators.

It also covers what happened after the wildfire-related shutdowns. When crews returned, they picked up their Sofvie processes again without retraining.

One of the highlights of the ISSA Mining Safety Conference for us was seeing Gus and Taylor share Hudbay’s journey at Lalor Mine.

Their session, Modernizing Safety & Audits at Lalor Mine, showed how Hudbay moved key safety and audit processes from paper to digital, making it easier for crews to complete FLRAs, pre-ops and inspections in the field while giving leaders clearer visibility into follow-up.

The results:
✅ 47,952 digital submissions in the first year
✅ Nearly 20,000 field-level risk assessments completed
✅ More than 17,000 pre-operational checks completed
✅ Over 200 positive recognitions logged

More importantly, the presentation showed what can happen when digital processes are built around the people doing the work: less time chasing paper, clearer ownership of actions and better visibility into what's happening across the operation.

What an incredible few days at the ISSA Mining Safety Conference 2026! 🚀

The conversations, ideas and shared commitment to improving mining safety made this a valuable event for the Sofvie team.

A huge thank you to CIM, the CIM Health and Safety Society, ISSA Mining, the Saskatchewan Mining Association and WCB Saskatchewan for bringing the industry together.

✅ Critical controls need verification and follow-through. Identifying a control is only the first step. Teams need confidence that the controls preventing serious events are in place, working properly and addressed when gaps are found.

✅ Following work as planned means being ready to pause when conditions change. When the work or risks no longer match the plan, teams need the confidence to stop, speak up and reassess before moving forward.

✅ Data only becomes valuable when it leads to action. Field information should help teams spot recurring issues, follow up where needed and act before concerns become larger risks.
